Also claimed is the use of acyclic olefinically unsaturated organohydridosilane esters of formula CH2=CR3CH2-ÄO(CHR3)xÜyOH (V) as cross-linking agents and adhesives for materials and/or as phase transfer agents.

An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of this material by reacting optionally activated metallic magnesium with ethanol in the liquid phase under pressure at above 78 degrees C and then isolating the product.
