    Abstract: Water-based, organopolysiloxane-containing compositions, which are largely free from organic solvent, show a flash point of above 70 degrees C and do not release alcohol when diluted with water. These compositions contain polysiloxanes of formula HOÄSi(A)(CH3)z(OH)1-zOÜaÄSi(B)(R )y(OH)1-yOÜbÄSi(C)(CH3 )OÜcÄSi(D)(OH)OÜdH . (HX)e (I), where A = amino-alkyl group derived from formula H2N(CH2)f(NH)g(CH2)hSi(OR)3-z(CH3)z (II); R = linear, branched or cyclic 1-8C alkyl, or aryl; f = 0-6; g = 0 if f = 0, or g = 1 if f = more than 0; h = 0-6; z = 0-1; B = fluoroalkyl group derived from formula R -Y-(CH2)2Si(R )y(OR)3-y (III); R = mono-, oligo- or per- fluorinated 1-9C alkyl or aryl; Y = CH2, O or S; R = as for R; y = 0-1; C = alkyl group derived from formula R -Si(CH3)(OR)2 (IV); D = alkyl group derived from R -Si(OR)3 (V); R = linear, branched or cyclic 1-8C alkyl; X = residue of (in)organic acid; a, b = more than 0; c, d, e = 0 or more; and a+b+c+d = at least 2. Also claimed is a process for the production of these compositions.

    Abstract: Stable composition of water-soluble organosiloxanes, obtained by reacting water-soluble amino-alkoxy-silane (A) with insoluble alkenyl-alkoxy-silane (B), then adding water and removing alcohol, using (A) and water in amounts such as to enable reaction of all alkoxy groups in (B) and adjusting to pH 2-6 with acid. A stable composition of water-soluble organosiloxanes obtained by (a) reacting a water-soluble, amino-functional alkoxysilane (A) with water-insoluble alkenyl-functional alkoxy-silane(s) (B), (b) adding water and (c) removing the alcohol formed. The amounts of amino-silane (A) and water used are such as to enable reaction of all the alkoxy groups in (B) and to give a composition from which essentially no alcohol is liberated by hydrolysis on dilution with water. This composition is adjusted to a pH of 2-6 by adding an optionally aqueous organic or inorganic acid during and/or after the reaction. An Independent claim is also included for a process as described above for the production of such compositions.

    Abstract: Preparation of organoalkoxy siloxanes involves mixing at least one organotrichlorosilane, water and alcohol with simultaneous removal of hydrogen chloride and passage of the crude product following an average residence time of 0.5-180 minutes to a reaction-distillation column at 50-200 degrees C to separate volatile components as an overhead product and yield the organoalkoxysiloxanes at the sump product. Preparation of organoalkoxy siloxanes of formula (I) involves: (A) mixing: (1) at least one organotrichlorosilane, optionally mixed with tetrachlorosilane; (2) water; and (3) alcohol in a molar ratio of (A1):(A2):(A3) of 1:0.59-0.95:0.5:100 respectively at 0-150 degrees C with simultaneous removal of hydrogen chloride from the system and passage of the crude product following an average residence time of 0.5-180 minutes to (B) a reaction-distillation column at 50-200 degrees C to separate volatile components as an overhead product and yield the organoalkoxysiloxanes at the sump product. R, R'' = methyl, ethyl, vinyl, n-propyl, i-propyl, gamma -chloropropyl, n-butyl, i-butyl, n-pentyl, i-pentyl, n-hexyl, n-heptyl, i-heptyl, n-octyl, i-octyl, hexadecyl, octadecyl or alkoxy; R' = methyl or ethyl; n, m = 0-20; and n+m = at least 2.
