Abstract: Prepn of 3-(pseudo)haloalkyl-silane esters of formula (I) comprises catalysed reaction of unsatd aliphatic cpds contg a reactive allyl (pseudo)halide gp and terminal double bond, of formula (II), with a hydridosilane ester of formula (III) in the presence of gp. VIII element and/or cpd. The novel features are that (a) a 0.1-0.0001 N soln or suspension of Ir and/or Ir cpds is prepd by stirring for at least 20 min with (II) alone or a mixt of (II) and (III) contg an excess of 0.01-100, pref 0.1-10 mole% (II) and opt in 5-95 wt% soln in inert solvents, eg hydrocarbons and/or (I); and (b) hydrosilylation is carried out with this at a catalyst concn of 10 - 10 mole%.
