Abstract: A prosthetic arm apparatus including a plurality of segments that provide a user of the prosthetic arm apparatus with substantially the same movement capability and function as a human arm. The segments are connectable to one another and connectable to a prosthetic support apparatus that may be adorned by the user. Each segment of the plurality of segments provides a portion of the movement capability, enabling the plurality of connected segments connected to the harness mount to provide substantially the same movement capability as that lacking in the user. A dynamic support apparatus for supporting the prosthetic arm apparatus has a frame, a dynamic interface, a temperature control mechanism, and a control system. The dynamic support apparatus has a control system that is operably connected to the dynamic interface and controls the dynamic interface to change its geometry.

Abstract: A system for pumping a biological fluid includes a disposable unit for pumping the fluid and a base unit for actuating the disposable unit. The disposable unit includes a pair of spheroid pump pods with flexible membranes and controllable inlet and outlet valves. The actuation chambers of the pumps are connected to actuation ports configured for direct connection to pneumatic ports of the base unit. A controller and pressure transducers can be used to control the actuation system, and to determine various flow conditions associated with the operation of the system.

Abstract: A peristaltic pump (3001), and related system method are provided. The peristaltic pump pumps fluid in a cyclic manner where each cycle has four stages. The pump includes a plunger for actuating towards and away from a tube, an inlet and outlet valve, a spring for biasing the plunger towards the tube and a plunger actuator. The plunger actuator can be a cam which can engage and disengage with the plunger. In a first stage the inlet valve is opened and the plunger actuated away from the tube allowing the tube to fill from the inlet. In a second stage the inlet valve is closed and the plunger is actuated towards the tube and disengaged from the actuator. The second stage has the outlet valve closed allowing the fluid in the tube to be pressured by the spring pressure on the plunger. In a third stage the outlet valve is opened. In a fourth stage the plunger is actuated against the tube, with the outlet valve still open, allowing the fluid to be discharged out of the outlet.

The system also includes a recharging device configured to receive the control unit, the recharging device including a reed switch, wherein when the magnet in the control unit is located proximate to the reed switch, the switch is activated.

Abstract: A sensor apparatus and sensor apparatus system for use in conjunction with a cassette (2300), including a disposable or replaceable cassette. In some embodiments, the cassette includes a thermal well (5100) for permitting the sensing of various properties of a subject media. The thermal well includes a hollow housing of a thermally conductive material. In other embodiments, the cassette includes sensor leads for sensing of various properties of a subject media in a fluid line (2303). The thermal well has an inner surface shaped so as to form a mating relationship with a sensing probe (6000). The mating thermally couples the inner surface with a sensing probe. In some embodiments, the thermal well is located on a disposable portion and the sensing probe on a reusable portion.

The peristaltic pump includes a plunger configured to actuate toward and away from a tube, a cam follower coupled to the plunger, a compression spring biasing the plunger toward the tube, a cam configured to actuate the plunger away from the tube and configured to mechanically disengage from the cam follower; a position sensor configured to determine a position of the plunger; and a processor coupled to the position sensor, configured to estimate fluid flow of fluid within the tube utilizing the position of the plunger as indicated by the position sensor.
