Abstract: A polarized optical article is manufactured by introducing ultraviolet absorber into the coating by imbibition. The imbibition comprises immersion of the article in an aqueous solution comprising the UV absorber and dispersing agent(s), for 10 seconds - 2 minutes. The solution is kept at 80-99[deg]C. The article is rinsed with a lower alcohol. Manufacturing a polarized optical article, in particular a polarized ophthalmic lens, comprises applying, to a substrate of the optical article, a polymerized coating comprising dye(s) that is sensitive to photodegradation, and introducing a UV absorber into the coating. The polymerized coating comprising dye(s) that is sensitive to photodegradation is a bilayer coating comprising a first layer of linear photopolymers (LPP) and a second layer of liquid crystal polymers (LCP) comprising dichroic dye(s). The UV absorber is introduced into the coating by imbibition. The imbibition comprises immersion of the article in an aqueous solution comprising the UV absorber and dispersing agent(s), for 10 seconds to 2 minutes. The solution is kept at 80-99[deg]C. The article is rinsed with a lower alcohol.

Abstract: The method involves forming a polarizing layer structure (30), with a orientation layer, on a film support (31), and placing a ophthalmic glass (40) and the structure between support surface pressing and inflatable pressing devices (10, 20). A portion of an adhesive material is arranged between the structure and the glass. The structure is pressed against a surface of the glass by inflating a membrane of the device (20) and by maintaining a fixed space between the devices. The ophthalmic glass is released and the support is withdrawn so that the structure is stick on the surface.
