Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely produce a slightly colored organoalkoxysilane in the presence of a low toxic phase transfer catalyst. SOLUTION: This method for producing an organic silane comprises allowing a haloalkylalkoxysilane such as chloropropyltrimethoxysilane to react with a reactant comprising either of a cyanate, the ammonium salt of a 2-20C organic acid, the alkali metal salt of a 2-20C organic acid and their mixtures at a reaction temperature of about 80 deg.C to about 200 deg.C to produce a nitrogen or oxygen- containing organoalkoxysilane such as an isocyanurate or fumarate. Therein, the reaction is performed in the presence of a guanidium salt such as hexaethylguanidium chloride as a catalyst. The elevation of the reaction temperature due to the exothermic reaction is about 0 deg.C to about 120 deg.C. A preferable cyanate is sodium cyanate.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making inorganic powder hydrophobic through a short time at a moderate temperature by using a proper amount of relatively economical treatment agent. SOLUTION: An inorganic powder is treated by a silylation agent in the presence of a third reagent selected from groups of Br ϕ nsted acids and linear phosphorus nitride halides. As the inorganic powder, fumed silica is preferable; as the Br ϕ nsted acids, ones having 120 deg.C or lower boiling point under atmospheric pressure can be usable and formic acid is preferable; and as the linear phosphorus nitride halides, a linear phosphorus nitride chloride is preferable.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an improvement in a rate for initiating the polycondensation and the conversion of a silanol-containing organosiloxane into a high-molecular weight fluid or a gum by bringing the silanol-containing organosiloxane into contact with a specific catalyst at a temperature under a pressure within specific ranges. SOLUTION: (A) A silanol-containing organosiloxane is brought into contact with (B) a peralkylated phosphazene base of preferably the formula [R is a 1-4C alkyl; R is a 1-10C alkyl; (n) is 2 or 3] in an amount effective in carrying out the polycondensation of the component A at a temperature within the range of about 0-200 deg.C under a pressure within the range of up to about 350Torr to thereby conduct the polycondensation reaction. The pressure when carrying out the reaction is preferably within the range of 0.01-100Torr and more preferably within the range of 0.01-5.0Torr. The component A is preferably polydimethylsiloxane and the component B is preferably 1-t-butyl-4,4,4- tris-(dimethylamino)-2,2-bis[tris-(dimethylamino)-phosphoranylideneami no]-2λ ,4λ - catenadi(phosphazene), etc.

The latter may be thermally cured or by radiation to from a cured composition useful as a releasable coating or a conformal coating.

SOLUTION: The curable coating composition comprises (a) a cationically curable functionalized polyorganosiloxane; (b) a photopolymerization initiator; and (c) an anchorage additive having the following formula (1): [wherein, R1 to R3 R7 to R9 are independently alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy or alkenyl hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon groups having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; R4 and R6 are independently alkyl, aryl or alkenyl hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; and R5 is an alkyl, aryl or alkenyl hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon groups having 1 to 20 carbon atoms]. The composition gives a releasably coated, cure film, especially on a plastic substrate, showing a friction rubbed-off amount less than other coated films.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. injection moldable silicone elastomer compsn. which exhibits a low compression set, adhesiveness without using a primer, and easiness in peeling by compounding a silicone elastomer, a cationic org. nitrogen compd. salt, bis(trimethoxysilylpropyl) fumarate, and a specific silanol-terminated polymer so that the resulting elastomer compsn. has specified physical properties. SOLUTION: A silanol-terminated polymer represented by the formula (wherein RA , RA , RA , and RA are each a 1-40C org. group; RA is a 2-40C olefinic org. group; y is 0-50; and x is 0-100) is used. This polymer is soluble in the objective curable elastomer compsn., exhibits a lower solubility in the elastomer compsn. after cured than the solubility in the elastomer compsn. before cured, and hence contains a silicone oozing out of the elastomer compsn. after cured. Examples of the cation of the cationic org. nitrogen compd. are H, a monovalent cation bonded to an org. group, and a cation of a mono- or polycyclic heterocyclic compd.

An organic silicone material is condensed or equilibrated by bring the organic silicon material into contact with the phosphorus-nitrogen product under a reaction promoted condition.
