Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to connect to a predetermined access point at an optimum time even if the network name of the access point is hidden. SOLUTION: The apparatus is characterized by being provided with a connection list table 53 for storing identification information of a connectable network and information stored in association with the identification information, indicating that the access point for connecting to the network is a "hidden access point" which does not send its identification information; and an access point switching software 51 for confirming the connection by attempting to establish the connection to the "hidden access point" after obtaining the information from the connection list table 53, and obtaining the predetermined identification information by scanning the identification information for specifying the connection destination. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain individual power-saving methods for displays by providing a means which inspects respective pictures of the displays and a means which changes the operation state of at least one of the displays which meets specific conditions according to the inspection result. SOLUTION: The contents of a display picture of each display monitor are inspected (block 708). Through this inspection, it is judged whether a mouse pointer is displayed on the display screen of a monitor (block 710). When no mouse pointer is included, it is judged whether or not an active window is displayed on the display screen of the monitor (block 712). When not, it is inspected whether an idle timer of the monitor is generating a time-out (block 714) and when a time-out is generated, the monitor is placed in a low-power- consumption state (DIM) (block 716).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the frequency of a video clock so as not to affect display quality by providing a step of lowering the frequency of the video clock and a step of repeating this step until the changed frequency of the video clock becomes a prescribed frequency. SOLUTION: First of all, the timing to change the frequency of the video clock (Vclk) is detected (S110). Next, it is judged from the name of an application on a window displayed on a screen whether the frequency of Vclk is changed or not (S120). Next, when changing the frequency of Vclk, there are the cases of increasing and decreasing the frequency and corresponding to the cases, processing is made different (S130). Therefore, it is reported to a user to lower the frequency of Vclk (S140). Then, processing for actually lowering the frequency of Vclk is executed (S150), it is judged whether or not processing is finished and when not finished, it is returned to S110 again (S170).

PURPOSE: To perform a series of the operations of hibernation and waking-up at a high speed in a hibernation file system. CONSTITUTION: At the time of starting a hibernation mode, the allocation information of a hibernation file is acquired from information managed by an OS file system on an external storage device and inputted to a buffer (steps 805 and 806). By using the information, the contents of a main memory and a VRAM and the allocation information are saved in a hibernation file (steps 808, 810 and 811). Also, address information where the allocation information is saved on the external storage device is stored in a prescribed control information area (step 813). At the time of performing the waking-up, the allocation information already present in the hibernation file is used and the contents of the main memory and the VRAM are restored.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To display an icon at both times of going in and out of a hibernation mode. CONSTITUTION: The block of a main memory data and the block of a VRAM data and divided and managed. Then at the time of going into the hibernation mode, original data in the VRAM are stored first and then original data in a main memory are stored while displaying the icon. In addition, at the time of waking up, after restoring original data in the main memory while displaying the icon, original data in the VRAM are restored.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the effective and highly practical protection mechanism of a magnetic disk device, capable of finely dealing with the used situation of a portable terminal device. SOLUTION: This protection mechanism is provided with a registered stable position data storing part 53 for storing the information of a stable state indicating the setting of a magnetic disk device in a stable using environment, a stationary state measuring part 51 for determining whether the magnetic disk device is in a stationary state or not based on the information of acceleration applied to the magnetic disk device and detected by a sensor 20, and an operation state determination part 54 for determining whether the stationary state is the stable state stored in the registered stable position data storing part 53 or not when the magnetic disk device is determined to be in the stationary state, and setting a prediction detecting sensitivity for predicting the occurrence of shocks on the magnetic disk device based on the result of the determination. A magnetic head operation control part 60 retreats a magnetic head 11 when the prediction of shock occurrence is detected based on the detecting sensitivity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable network communications to be automatically and optimally carried out in radio ad hoc communications. SOLUTION: A communication terminal is formed as one of a plurality of nodes which constitute a cluster and serves as a cluster head capable of holding communication with the other cluster members or residual nodes and equipped with a cluster head suitability judgment device 11 for grasping the state of link with the cluster members, a cluster head shift schedule forming device 12 which forms a schedule table 15 for assigning the cluster members successively for a tentative cluster head, a link state suitability monitoring device 21 which recognizes the state of link with the other nodes when a cluster member becomes a tentative cluster head, and a cluster reconstruction device 26 which reconstructs the cluster, resting on the basis of the state of link grasped and recognized.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide environment in which plural operating systems made to coexist in a single system can be used by switching them at high speed. SOLUTION: In this computer system on which the plural operating systems are mounted, plural memory areas 102, 103 made to individually correspond to each operating system by logically separating a memory area of a memory device and an independent memory area 104 not to be made to correspond to any operating system, an interface means to be operated on the operating system and to issue a switching instruction of the operating systems, a suspend control means, a resume control means and an operating system switching control means to receive the switching instruction from the interface means and to resume the operating system at switching destination after waiting for the operating system to issue the instruction is suspended, are provided.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate the power consumption of central processing units in a more flexible way than before. SOLUTION: An information processor with a plurality of central processing units is provided having a temperature measuring part for measuring the temperature of each of the plurality of central processing units; a pause ratio calculating part for calculating a pause ratio, i.e., a time ratio at which the computing processing of the central processing unit is paused based on the measured temperature of each of the central processing units; a paused state control part for pausing the computing processing of the central processing unit according to the pause ratio by shifting the central processing unit to either a standby state achieved by a thread executed by each of the plurality of central processing units that the central processing unit is caused to execute the other thread for a predetermined standby period or an operating state that an internal pause command for pausing the computing processing of the central processing unit is executed; and an interruption processing part for interrupting each of the plurality of central processing units to resume the computing processing of the central processing unit which pauses the computing processing.
