Abstract: Disclosed is an object-orientated game management system which enables games developers to design games using a platform-independent object model without needing to concern themselves with the details of multi-user communications management. An object is created (lobby session - 400) which manages the creation of and access to a multiple user game session (406). A server (lobby server - 402) maintains a list of available games and details of those participants currently partaking in those games. From the game session (406) users can either create a game session of their own at a central location (410), whence they simultaneously create a client session for themselves (408), or can join in with pre-existing sessions (414) by invoking client objects (412) to manage their access to that game.

The present invention uses the wireless device to send information about the environment to a server on the communication network. In a further aspect of the present invention, the wireless device may also pre-fetch contents from the identified web sites in times when bandwidth is not in use to further speed responsiveness of the device.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided which provide profile information associated with a client to a server by generating, at the client, a profile document containing profile information associated with the client and incorporating in the profile document a designator which indicates that profile information identified by the designator is not provided by the client and is provided by a network intermediary in a path between the client and the server. The designator in the profile document is encrypted utilizing a key associated with the client and the profile document with the encrypted designator transmitted from the client to the server utilizing the path. Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for collecting profile information about users accessing dynamically generated content from one or more servers. In a specific embodiment, a server dynamically generates a web page in response to a user request. The server customizes the web page content based on the requested universal resource identifier (URI) and one or more of: the user's identity, access permissions, demographic information, and previous behavior at the site. The web server then passes the URI, user identity, and dynamically generated web page to an access information collector. The access information collector generates document comparators from the current web page content and compares them to document comparators associated with previously retrieved web pages. If the current web page is sufficiently similar to some previously retrieved web page, the access information collector logs the URI, user identity, and a document key associated with the matching previously retrieved page. Otherwise, the access information collector generates a new key; stores the new key and the document comparators in a database; and logs the URI, user identity, and the newly generated document key.

Abstract: A method or system for designating required device attributes in a world wide web document request comprises having a link element or tag (341, figure 5a) associated with a plurality of requested client properties (345, figure 5a), on selecting said link inserting at least one of the properties into the http request. The requested client properties may be contained within an attribute (344, figure 5a) of the link tag. The property may comprise a category (346, figure 5a), separator and name (347, figure 5a) and contain wildcards (353, figure 5b). Some properties may be mandatory (377, figure 5c) for the document to be processed. The client may also decide whether to transmit the property and may be optionally queried for permission before transmission. The system allows customised content to be generated to suit different devices while saving network bandwidth by only transmitting properties that the server actually needs.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for exchanging supplemental information fields between a client and server. This supplemental information can then be used by the server to complete a client's request for content stored at a particular location. For example, the supplemental information may be used to provide a customized response, or for access control to sensitive data. Preferably, the REDIRECT message of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or the Wireless Session Protocol (WSP) is used to request the supplemental information, encoding a comma-separated list of attribute names in a request header for the desired supplemental information. This solution is designed to be backward-compatible.
