    Abstract: A process for preparing a carboxylic acid-based polymer comprising the steps of (A) a first polymerization reaction step comprising introducing an aqueous solution of monomers containing an alpha -unsaturated carboxylic acid or a salt thereof, an aqueous solution containing a hydrogensulfite, and a gas containing oxygen into a flow mixer to polymerize the monomers; and (B) a second polymerization reaction step comprising further polymerizing a reaction product containing the unreacted monomer obtained in the first polymerization reaction step. There can be stably and productively prepared a carboxylic acid-based polymer having a high quality with suppressed coloration and containing a reduced amount of impurities even if the amount of gas containing oxygen used in the initiation of the polymerization reaction is remarkably reduced.

    Abstract: There are provided a water-based ink for ink-jet printing which not only satisfies a high optical density but also is excellent in gloss and image clarity upon printing on a coated paper; a water dispersion used in the water-based ink; and a process for producing the water dispersion.
