    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new recombinant bacmid which is obtained by inserting a specific transfer vector, in which a gene coding for glucosyl ceramide synthase is inserted, into a bacmid DNA and is used in the production or the like of an enzyme useful in the synthesis or the like of sphingoglycolipid. SOLUTION: This is a new recombinant bacmid for expressing glucosyl ceramide synthase obtained by inserting transfer vector pFastBacHT, in which a gene coding for glucosyl ceramide synthase is inserted, into a bacmid DNA and is used for efficiently producing glucosyl ceramide synthase useful in the synthesis or the like of sphingoglycolipid. The recombinant bacmid for expressing this enzyme is obtained by inserting the gene coding for glucosyl ceramide synthase originating from tissues in mammalia, e.g. human being, rat, mouse, cattle, pig and the like, into transfer vector pFastBacHT on the market and further inserting this into the bacmid DNA.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new protein showing an activity enhancing the chemotactic effect of macrophage chemotactic factor and useful, e.g. as a reagent for immunological study of macrophage or an auxiliary anti-neoplastic agent by culturing lymphoid cells. CONSTITUTION:Lymphoid cells, e.g. hybridoma D6-1 cells obtained by cell fusion between human peripheral lymphocyte and human acute T-cell leukemia cell strain in 45% polyethylene glycol are dispersed in a culture medium and incubated at 37 deg.C for 90min. The cultured solution is subsequently centrifuged and the resultant supernatant is collected. The collected supernatant is purified by the anion-exchange column chromatography in which DEAE-agarose, etc., bufferized by 5mM N-2-hydroxyethylpiperazin-N'-2-ethanesulfonic acid buffer solution (Hz 8.0) is used, thus obtaining the objective new protein capable of enhancing the macrophage chemotactic effect to the macrophage chemotactic factor, produced in lymphocyte and/or lymphoid cells and having about 13000 molecular weight measured by gel filtration method.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a hair growth agent, capable of promoting hair growth regardless of symptoms or physical constitution and effective against various alopecias. CONSTITUTION:A hair growth agent is obtained by blending carrageenan moss or its extract, especially an extract prepared by, grinding the whole alga of the carrageenan moss or part thereof and extracting with water, a lower alcohol, hydrocarbons or esters, then treating the extracted phase with active carbon, etc., eluting an adsorbed active ingredient with methanol, etc., and distilling away the solvent as the active ingredient at a concentration of preferably 0.0001-50wt.%, especially 0.001-10wt.% expressed in terms of a dry substance (0.01-10wt.% when the dosage form is a liquid such as a suspension or a paste such as an ointment) in using the extract and preferably 0.001-50wt.%, especially 0.01-20wt.% in using the carrageenan moss itself with other ingredients. The resultant hair growth agent has the above-mentioned effects. Furthermore, the dosage form is not especially limited if the hair growth agent is used as a medicine for external use. The dosage form is preferably a liniment such as an ointment, a lotion, a tonic, a spray, a suspension or an emulsion.
