Abstract: There is disclosed a homoplymer of an alkenylsilane having a syndiotactic structure and a copolymer of the alkenylsilane and an alpha -olefin. The polymer and the copolymer can be prepared by subjecting the alkenylsilane or the alkenylsilane and the alpha -olefin to addition polymerization in the presence of a transition metal compound having asymmetirically interconnected ligands or preferably in the presence of the transition metal compound and aluminoxane. The polymer and the copolymer can be used as a nucleating agent for a crystalline polypropylene.

Abstract: A molded article of a syndiotactic polypropylene having excellent transparency in which a melting point attributed to the polypropylene having the syndiotactic structure measured at a heating rate of 10.degree.C/minute by differential scanning thermal analysis is represented by a substantially single peak, the aforesaid molded article being prepared by heating, melting and then hot-molding a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and a small amount of another olefin, which have a substantially syndiotactic structure, or a mixture of the homopolymer or the copolymer and a small amount of a polypropylene having a substantially isotactic structure, followed by quenching, or, after these steps, additionally subjecting the above molded article to a heat treatment at a temperature of less than its melting point. A method for preparing the above molded article is also disclosed here.

Abstract: A stretched film of polypropylene which is excellent in transparency, substantially free of an antiblocking agent and at least uniaxially stretched and which is characterized in that it has uniformly distributed projections having a height of from 0.05 to 0.50 .mu. and a diameter of from 10 to 100 .mu. at least on the surface thereof as well as a method for preparing the foregoing stretched film of polypropylene which comprises the steps of forming, into a sheet, polypropylene which comprises a nucleating agent in an amount selected so that the crystallization temperature of polypropylene is increased by 1 to 10.degree.C by the addition thereof and then stretching the sheet at a temperature ranging from 140 to 165 .degree.C are herein disclosed.

The present invention can provide polyimide which has an extremely low dielectric constant and is colorless, transparent and excellent in processability and heat resistance, and also provides an aromatic diamine which is useful as a raw material monomer of the polyimide or a raw material of other various engineering plastics.

Abstract: Polypropylene of uniform quality is produced at a desired, constant production rate on a continuous basis in the presence of a catalyst system composed of a transition metal catalyst and an organoaluminum compound. The polypropylene production rate is calculated based on the quantity of heat removed per unit time from a reaction tank (1) operated at a constant temperature, and is controlled by varying the amount of the organoaluminum compound to be charged, when the weight ratio of the organoaluminum compound to the transition metal catalyst both retained in the reaction tank is not greater than a preset value. The production rate of polypropylene may also be controlled by varying the amount of the transition metal catalyst to be charged, when the weight ratio of the organoaluminum compound to the transition metal catalyst both retained in the reaction tank is greater than a preset value.

Abstract: : A poly-.alpha.-olefin of novel structure which is an addition polymer of an .alpha.-olefin having 4 carbon atoms or more, wherein (a) by the analysis of the peaks attributable to the side chain methylene groups directly bonded to the main chain in the 13C-NMR spectrum produced by the measurement in 1,2,4-trichloro-benzene, (i) a novel main peak not attributable to the isotactic structure thereof is positioned on the side of higher magnetic field than is the peak attributable to the isotactic structure, and (ii) the intensity of said main peak is 0.3 or more relative to the sum of the intensities of the total peaks attributable to the side chain methylene groups directly bonded to the main chain, and (b) the molecular weight measured by gel permeation chromatography and calculated as polypropylene is not less than 1,000.
