    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain 2-chloropropionic acid in high concentration and selectivity by oxidizing 2-chloropropionaldehyde with oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas in liquid phase in the presence of an iron compound, a cobalt compound and a molybdenum compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective 2-chloropropionic acid can be produced by oxidizing 2-chloropropionaldehyde with oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas in liquid phase (especially at 40-90 deg.C) using a catalyst comprising an iron compound (e.g. ferric salt of 2-chloropropionic acid), a cobalt compound [e.g. cobalt(II) acetate] and a molybdenum compound (e.g. molybdenum naphthenate). The process enables the industrial production of 2-chloropropionic acid in a low- corrosion environment in high selectivity. 2-Chloropropionic acid having increased concentration can be produced by the process. The process is advantageous because the obtained 2-chloropropionic acid does not contain detectable amount of 2,2-dichloropropionic acid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily and efficiently obtain the present compound in high selectivity at a low temperature under a low pressure, by reacting vinyl chloride with CO and H2 in the presence of a catalyst, such as a rhodium compound and trivalent organic phosphorus compound, coexisting with an organic acid and base as a cocatalyst. CONSTITUTION:Vinyl chloride is reacted with CO and H2 in the presence of a catalyst of a rhodium compound, such as hexadecanylhexarhodium, and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound, such as triphenylphosphine, or an oxide thereof coexisting with an organic acid, such as phthalic acid, and a base, such as NaOH, further in the presence of preferably water, preferably in a solvent, such as toluene, at 10-150 deg.C under 10-300kg/cm G pressure to afford the aimed compound useful as an intermediate for cosmetics and agricultural chemicals, etc. Furthermore, high activity can be stably maintained for a long period without accumulating by-products in a reactor and loss of rhodium can be reduced without requiring frequent regeneration of the catalyst, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in high yield and efficiency, by reacting vinyl chloride with CO and H2 in the presence of a weak acid ammonium salt using a catalyst composed of a Rh compound and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound or an oxide of a trivalent organic phosphorus compound. CONSTITUTION:2-Chloropropionaldehyde is produced by reacting vinyl chloride with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound or an oxide of a trivalent organic phosphorus compound. The reaction is carried out in the copresence of at least one kind of a weak acid ammonium salt (e.g. tetraethylammonium acetate or triethylamine acetate) to enable the smooth reaction. The reaction is preferably performed in the presence of water at 20-80 deg.C. The objective compound can be produced in high yield under low temperature and pressure condition without necessitating can be stably proceeded over a long period by the use of a simple apparatus.

CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is produced by reacting vinyl chloride with carbon monoxide and hydrogen at 20-80 deg.C in the presence of a rhodium compound and a base consisting of a combination of (A) at least one kind of a trivalent organic phosphorus compound (e.g. trimethylphosphine or trimethyl phosphite) or oxide of a trivalent organic phosphorus compound (e.g. triethylphosphine oxide or triphenylphosphine oxide) and (B) at least one kind of a urea compound (e.g. urea or 1,1-dimethylurea) or an amide compound (e.g. formamide) and preferably in the presence of water.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in catalyst activity, by treating a liquid phase containing a catalyst with active carbon and reusing the catalyst in oxidizing 2-chloropropionaldehyde with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of an oxidation catalyst and simultaneously reusing the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:2-Chloropropionaldehyde is oxidized with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of an oxidation catalyst to product 2-chloropropionic acid useful as an intermediate for industrial and agricultural chemicals. In the process, a liquid phase, prepared by at least partially separating preferably the unreacted raw material and the aimed compound from the afore-mentioned reaction mixture and containing the above-mentioned catalyst is treated with active carbon to reuse the afore-mentioned catalyst without deteriorating activity in reusing the above-mentioned catalyst. Further, since the reaction temperature consequently need not be increased for maintaining the activity of the reused catalyst, selectivity for the aimed compound is improved. Furthermore, problems of environmental pollution, raw material loss, etc., caused by discarding of the catalyst can be improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for producing industrial chemicals, etc., at a controllable oxidation rate free from corrosion problems advantageously even on a small scale, by oxidizing 2- chloropropionaldehyde with oxygen in the presence of a specific metallic compound catalyst in a liquid phase. CONSTITUTION:2-Chloropropionaldehyde is oxidized with oxygen or an oxygen- containing gas by the use of at least one metallic compound catalyst selected from the group consisting of metallic compounds of groups Va and VIa of the periodic table as a catalyst at 20-120 deg.C, preferably 40-80 deg.C to give the aimed compound. The amount of water in the reaction system is =5kg/cm and as partial pressure in the system. A vanadium compound or a molybdenum compound is especially preferable as the catalytic component and the amount of the compound used is properly 0.01-5wt.% in the liquid phase.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently extract and separate high-purity pyruvic acid of excellent quality useful as a raw material for producing various medicines or amino acids from an aqueous solution containing the pyruvic acid in simple operation by using isopropyl acetate as an extracting solvent. CONSTITUTION:Isopropyl acetate in a volume of preferably 0.1-50times, especially preferably 0.5-5times based on water in an aqueous solution normally containing pyruvic acid is added to the aqueous solution containing the pyruvic acid at normally 10-80 deg.C, preferably 15-45 deg.C and the resultant mixture is stirred, distilled and then separated under ordinary pressure or more preferably under a reduced pressure of about 50-700mmHg to remove the isopropyl acetate. Thereby, the aimed pyruvic acid is extracted and separated by batch or continuous operation. Furthermore, the resultant pyruvic acid provides small load and loss thereof in a purification step.
