    Abstract: A process for the production of 2-chloropropionaldehyde from vinyl chloride, carbon monoxide and hydrogen which comprises using a rhodium compound and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound or the oxide of a trivalent organic phosphorus compound as a catalyst and carrying out the reaction under the co-existence of an acid the pka of which is in the range of 0.5 - 5, the oxide, hydroxide or a weak acid salt of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, or a buffer solution.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound advantageously in reacting vinyl chloride with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound, a base and water, by using a trivalent organic phosphorus compound or an oxide thereof as the base and a specific amine as the base. CONSTITUTION:In reacting vinyl chloride with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound, a base and water to produce the titled compound useful as an intermediate for chemicals, agricultural chemicals and drugs, at least one of a trivalent organic phosphorus compound and an oxide thereof and at least one of amines having 10-11.5 pKa and >=130 deg.C boiling point, preferably mono- - trialkylamine containing >=4C alkyl group are used as the base to give the aimed compound at low temperature, under low pressure and in high selectivity. The reaction can be progressed stably for a long time by using a simple device.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound useful as an industrial chemical at relatively low temperature in short time and high purity under circumference of reduced corrosion, by oxidizing 2-chloropropionaldehyde with oxygen in the presence of a specific amount of metal compounds in liquid phase. CONSTITUTION:For example, 2-chloropropionaldehyde expressed by formula I is oxidized with oxygen or oxygen-containing gas in the presence of an iron compound (e.g., iron (II) chloride or iron (III) chloride) of 0.01-100mg based on 1mol of the above-mentioned compound and vanadium compound (e.g., vanadium trioxide), cobalt compound [e.g., cobalt (II) acetate (4 hydrate)] or chromium compound [e.g., chromium (III) oxide ] of 0.01-1times mol based on atomic ratio in a liquid phase to provide 2-chloropropionic acid expressed by formula II. The oxidation reaction is preferably carried out in the range of 20-120 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound in high purity and yield, by hydrolyzing high-purity 2-chloropropionic acid in the presence of a specific amount of a strong alkali and a large excess of water and oxidizing the resultant aqueous solution of a high-purity alkali lactate with an O2-containing gas in the presence of an oxidation catalyst in the liquid phase. CONSTITUTION:High-purity 2-chloropropionic acid is hydrolyzed in the presence of water in an amount of >=0.5kg based on 1mol 2-chloropropionic acid and a strong alkali in an amount of 2 mol based on 1 mol 2-chloropropionic acid at 90-200 deg.C to provide an aqueous solution containing a high-purity alkali lactate. The resultant aqueous solution is then oxidized with an O2-containing gas in the presence of an oxidation catalyst (especially preferably platinum and/or palladium and an element selected from lead, tin, tellurium, indium and bismuth or a compound thereof) at 40-100 deg.C in the liquid phase to afford the aimed alkali pyruvate. Pyruvic acids are useful as a raw material for amino acids and medicines.

(A) A trivalent organic phosphorus compound or an oxide thereof and/or (B) a nitrogen-containing compound having 3-11.5 pKa is preferably used as the base. Further the component A is used as the base and the reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of an oxide, hydroxide, carboxylate or a weak acid salt of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal or a buffer solution.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound at low temperature under low pressure and in high selectivity in reacting vinyl chloride with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound, a trivalent organic phosphorus compound or an oxide thereof, by making a buffer solution coexist in the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:When vinyl chloride is reacted with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound or an oxide thereof, the reaction is carried out in the presence of a buffer solution which has pH 1-12.5, especially 1-9 at 25 deg.C and contains a salt comprises an acid having preferably 0.5-11 pKa, especially carboxylic acid and a base such as preferably oxide or hydroxide of especially alkali metal or alkaline earth metal to efficiently give the aimed compound useful as an intermediate for chemicals, agricultural chemical and drugs. The reaction is progressed stably for a long time by using a simple device and the reaction product can be separated from a catalytic component by an industrially preferable method. The concentration and the amount of the buffer solution are preferably selected in such a way that the pH of the buffer solution after the reaction is 1-12.5 at 25 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out reaction in the presence of an acid having a specific range of pKa in reacting vinyl chloride with CO and H2 in the in the presence of an Rh compound and trivalent organic phosphorus compound or oxide thereof to provide the titled compound. CONSTITUTION:Vinyl chloride is reacted with CO and H2 in the presence of an Rh compound (e.g. rhodium oxide) and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound (e.g. trimethylphosphine) or oxide thereof to provide the titled compound. In the process, the reaction is carried out in the coexistence of an acid having a pKa within the range of 0.5-5 to afford the aimed substance in high selectivity at a low temperature under a low pressure. Since high activity can be maintained for a long period without accumulation of by-products, loss of Rh can be reduced without requiring frequent practice of regenerating operation. The titled substance is useful as an intermediate for chemicals and agricultural chemicals, medicines, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition excellent in the workability in producing coated papers, capable of giving coated papers having good surface strength. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising, as the chief components, (A) a pigment and (B) an adhesive, a latex produced by emulsion polymerization among (1) 30-50wt.% of aliphatic conjugated diolefin monomer, (2) 1-10wt.% of mono-olefin-based unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, (3) 10-40wt.% of aromatic mono-olefin monomer, (4) acrylic 1-4C alkyl ester monomer at the weight ratio, to the component (1), of 0.1-0.6, and (5) 10-30wt.% of copolymerizable mono-olefin monomer except the component (4).
