Abstract: Sistemul de fumat include o ţigară detaşabilă care conţine material aromat de tutun şi care este supusă încălzirii cu ajutorul unor elemente electrice de încălzire în brichetă, eliminând fum de tutun aromat sau alte substanţe în formă de aburi sau aerosol furnizate către fumător. Ţigara şi bricheta creează în sistemul de fumat curenţi de aer care trec de-a curmezişul ţigării, micşorând astfel condensarea aburilor reziduali şi/sau a aerosolului în interiorul sistemului de fumat.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for mechanically and electrically bonding metallic materials and semiconductor materials. The method according to the invention may be used, for example, in forming a semiconductor electrical heater, particularly for use in electrical smoking articles. A metallic element 2, such as a copper alloy power supply tab, is laser welded to a semiconductor element 1, such as a doped silicon resistive heater element. A laser beam L is directed through a hole 3 in the copper alloy tab to melt some silicon material 5, which flows into the hole in the copper tab, reacts and intermixes with the copper and solidifies to form a slug containing copper silicide. A protective material such as nickel may be applied to protect the copper silicide from oxidation if desired. An ohmic, low resistance contact and high strength bond is provided between the parts.

Adhesive regions (261A) are applied from an adhesive applying station (327) to the surface of the carrier web (259') to form spaced regions of adhesive (261A) in between spaced regions of flavor material (261). A filter station (329) attaches filters (333,335) to the adhesive regions (261A) and a wrapping station (337) wraps the web (259') around the filters (333,335) to form a continuous rod of alternating regions of filter and tobacco flavor material. Finally, individual removable cigarettes (224') are formed by severing the continuous rod at a severing station (339).

Abstract: A smoking system (21) is provided in which a replaceable cigarette (23) containing tobacco flavor material is electrically heated by a set of electrical heater elements contained within a lighter (25) to evolve tobacco flavors or other components in vapor or aerosol form for delivery to a smoker. The cigarette (23) and lighter (25) are adapted to provide air flow patterns through the smoking system such that air flows transversely into the cigarette (23). Such patterns improve aerosol and flavor delivery to the smoker and reduce the condensation of residual heater-region vapor/aerosol in the smoking system.
