Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the limit of detection by providing a multiplier for converting the incident particles into secondary electrons and amplifying, a scintillator for converting secondary electrons into light and a photoelectric multiplier arranged to receive the light from the scintillator. CONSTITUTION:Upon incident of charged or neutral particle to a dinode Dy1 at the first stage of secondary electron multiplier 14, secondary electron is produced from the dinode Dy1. The secondary electron is amplified through second stage dinode Dy2 then the amplified secondary electron is amplified through third stage dinode Dy3. In such a manner, it is sequentially amplified through the dinodes Dy4-Dy7 and the secondary electron produced from the final stage dinode Dy7 will enter into the scintillator 22. The light produced from the scintillator 22 will pass through an optical guide and led to photoelectric multiplier 30 where it is detected. Since a deflector 16 is arranged at the inlet side of the secondary electron multiplier 14, the incident charged particles can be led efficiently to the first stage dinode Dy1 when applying proper voltage.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease detecting noise by forming a quadruple electrode mass spectrograph using inductive coupling plasma as an ion source by arranging an optical absorber in a location in which ion beams are separated from an optical extension line by deflection. CONSTITUTION:A quadruple electrode mass spectrograph consists of inductive coupling plasma 2 used as an ion source, a sampling part 6, a lens system 36, an analytical part 14 having guadruple electrodes 16, a deflection part 38 and a detector 18. Ion beams 20 are deflected from a center axis in the deflection part 38, and introduced into the detector 18 as beams 24 to detect them. A optical absorber 44 comprising black alumite are arranged on the center axis in the rear part of an electrode 30 of the deflection part 38 to absorb light which goes straight on. Since only ion beams 24 are introduced to the detector 18 and detected there without decrease in sensitivity, background noise caused by light scattering can be eliminated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To adjust incident conditions of ions into a main electrode by forming the captioned quadrupole mass spectrometer while providing an auxiliary quadrupole electrode fixed on the same axis as that of a main quadrupole electrode at a prescribed angle of rotation with respect to said main electrode. CONSTITUTION:A quadrupole mass spectrometer is constructed by arranging an ion source on the side A of a main quadrupole electrode 2 and a detector on the side B, while an auxiliary quadrupole electrode 4 is disposed between the ion source and the main electrode 2 adjoining to the main electrode 2 on the same axis as that thereof so as not to make contact therewith. Prescribed voltage is applied to both the electrodes 2,4 to permitions to enter there between for measurement, while the auxiliary electrode 4 is rotated by an angle theta and then fixed for analysis at a position of improved sensitivity and resolution of the spectrometer to the utmost. Thus, incident conditions of the ions onto the main electrode 2 can be adjusted, and furthermore even with an analyzer having accuracy of processing and assembly achievable with ease, disturbance of an electric field can be corrected to assure sufficient high sensitivity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to sufficiently detect the rise of a peak even in a higher mass region by providig means for controlling the sampling frequency in accordance with mass axis signals. CONSTITUTION:In a mass analyzer for periodically sampling and measuring the ion intensity signals of an analyzing tube of a chromatographic mass analyzer, the detecting signals of a Hall element 2, which is mounted in an electromagnet 1 for generating an orthogonal magnetic field, are fed as mass axis signals 4 to an A/D converter 5. On the other hand, the output signals of a detector 7 of the analyzing tube 6 are fed as ion intensity signals 9 to the A/D converter 5. Here, the signals 4 are fed to a level discriminating circuit 10, and marker signals 11 are fed to an A/D conversion control unit 12 in a manner to elongate the sampling period with the increase in the mass number, thus elongating the sampling period of the converter 5. Thus, it is easy to detect the peak of the high mass range which is wide in rise.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain high-SN-ratio data continuously even when the size of a sample is varied by directing one end of a light guide provided to a photodetection part to a light beam operating means and the other end to a detector, fitting this to a holder as a light guide cassette according to the size of the sample and enabling its replacement. CONSTITUTION:A scanner 2 is fitted to a gantry part and scans a light beam 3 at prescribed theta. Then the light guide cassette 10 is fitted and replaceable according to the size of the sample 6. A detector 11 is also fixed to the gantry part. The cassette 10 is set to such height that its photodetection end is close to the sample 6, and the curvature of the array of the photodetection end is set to a circumference centering on the scanner 2. Further, the other end of the cassette 10 faces the detector 11.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To select eluting conditions of a liquid chromatography accurately, by cutting a plastic minicolumn having a sample developed by a development solvent as object along the axis thereof to irradiate the cut plane of a packing agent with light. CONSTITUTION:A plastic minicolumn 1 has a transparent plastic column 2 about 10cm along with the inner diameter of bout 1mm filled with a packing agent 4 which is used in a column of a liquid phase chromatography intended to select eluting conditions. Two grooves 6 and 8 for cutting are provided on the external wall surface of the column 2 at positions of 180 deg. therebetween along the axis thereof. When one end of the minicolumn 1 with a sample on is immersed into a development solvent 10, the solvent 10 rises through the minicolumn 1 owing to capillarity to develop components of the sample. After a fixed time, the minicolumn 1 is taken off and mounted on a holder 12 for chromatoscanning of thin layer chromatography to be cut along the grooves 6 and 8. The cut plane of the column is irradiated with light and a quantitative measurement of concentration of the components and separation state of the cut plane is performed thereby setting eluting conditions.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable automatic setting of an optimum split ratio by providing a body connected with fluid resistors of variable resistance values in a split port and control circuit which regulates the values of the fluid resistors in correspondence to the peak condition of desired components. CONSTITUTION:The body 10 of this capillary gas chromatograph device is formed with an analyzing flow passage by connecting a detector 13 to the other end of a capillary column 12 connected at one end to the discharge end of a sample injection mechanism 11 and is constituted with split ratio variable flow passages by connecting the plural fluid resistors 17-19 of the different resistance values respectively via solenoid valves 14-16 to the split port 11a of the mechanism 11. An automatic sample injection mechanism 20 injects a specified amt. of the sample in accordance with the signal from the control circuit 1. The control circuit 1 is so constituted as to inject the specified amt. of the sample preset by the mechanism 20, to select the resistors 17-19 and to set the split ratio by operating the valves 14-16 in correspondence to the peak heights of the desired components at this time. The optimum split ratio is thereby quickly and automatically set without requiring experience.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out MIKES measurement for plural parent ions in short time, by detecting the ions of designated masses in order, and simultaneously carrying out the MIKES measurement for the ions. CONSTITUTION:The ions of plural masses are designated, voltage in the time of ordinary mass spectrometry is applied to an electric field E for energy spectrometry, and magnetic field intensity is varied in a constant direction from weak to strong or from strong to weak. And when the peak of a designated mass is detected, the variation of a magnetic field B is stopped for a moment, and the applied voltage to the electric field E for energy spectrometry is swept, so that MIKES measurement for the parent ions of the mass is carried out. After that, the electric field voltage is restored so as to carry out the same action, and the ion detection of a next designated mass is carried out so as to execute the MIKES measurement. Then, the same actions are carried out for the designated masses in order.
