Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the recording capacity of a floppy disk to be a mass storage by attachingly providing plural weighting means at positions of equally divided points of not smaller than trisected points which include the trisected points being on the outer periphery of the floppy disk to stabilize the contact state of a magnetic head. SOLUTION: Three weighting means 31 are provided at positions P11 to P13 of trisecting points being on the outer periphery 1a of a floppy disk 1. Or weighting means 31 are respectively attachingly provided at many equally divided positions of not smaller than the trisecting points, for example, four to 12 positions of equally divided points. When the rotational speed of the floppy disk 1 is speeded up, tensions from the inner peripheral side to outer peripheral side of the disk 1 act on the disk 1 by centrifugal forces by the weighting means 31 and, as a result, rigidity of the whole of the disk 1 is apparently increased. Since it is sufficient that the total weight of the weighting means 31 is not larger than 1 g, the weighting means 31 are easily formed by constituting masses 31 of adhesive while dropping adhesive at desired positions being on the outer periphery 1a of the disk 1.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the attraction and the collision of a head at the time of starting/stopping by providing a lift-up mechanism raising the disk from a head at the time of turning a power source off and lowering the head at the time of turning the power source on. CONSTITUTION:The lift-up mechanism 13 is composed of a crank arm 15, a driving shaft 16, a shape memory alloy spring 18, etc. When the power source is turned off, a floating head 11 is moved in the inmost periphery of the disk and the crank arm 15 is driven in the direction of the arrow C' then a suspention 10 is pressed up. On the other hand, when the device is started at the time of turning the power source on, the shape memory alloy spring 18 is heated at about 80 deg.C and the crank arm 15 is driven and rotated to a prescribed lowering position in the direction of an arrow C through stress generated by the spring 18. The suspention 10 is lowered to the prescribed position, and thereafter, the suspention 10 is floated to a height of about 0.1-0.2mum, and so, an unexpected collision at the time of starting is not occurred at all.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of relative positional deviation between a disk and a head by clipping a packing between inside and outside faces of a cover and chassis which are fitted to each other. CONSTITUTION:A packing 6 is interposed between inside and outside faces of a cover 5 and a chassis 4. That is, the packing 6 is attached to a peripheral wall 8 of the chassis 4 and the cover 5 is fitted to the outside periphery of the peripheral wall 8 of the chassis 4 in this state, and then, the packing 6 is compressed on the inside peripheral surface of the cover 5, and the outer peripheral side of the packing 6 is fitted to an annular groove 17 provided on the inside peripheral surface of the cover 5, and the chassis 4 and the cover 5 are set to the snap connection state with the packing between them. Consequently, the occurrence of strain on the upper face of the chassis 4 due to the moment of bending which acts upon the chassis at the time of attaching the cover 5 to the chassis 4 is suppressed. Thus, the interval between a spindle shaft and a revolving shaft 12 of a head 13 is prevented from being changed at the time of attaching the cover.

Further, by using the outer peripheral space of the rocking central shaft 7, a scale 20 is attached to the bottom part of a head arm 6, a light emitting element 22 and a light receiving element 23 are arranged in the upper and lower spaces of the scale 20, and the scale 20, the light emitting element 22 and the light receiving element 23 are housed in the range of the fitting height of the head arm 6 in the sealing case 1. Thus, the device can be made thinner.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove dust attached onto a surface of a disk-shaped recording medium while suppressing a load torque to the disk-shaped recording medium to a small value by disposing cleaning members on the upstream or downstream side in the rotating direction of the disk-shaped recording medium with respect to a head in a head insertion hole of a disk cartridge. SOLUTION: A cleaning apparatus 251 removes dust attached onto both upper and lower surfaces of a floppy disk 1 by disposing a pair of upper and lower cleaning members 252, adhered to a side face of a head base 184 or the like, close to the upper and lower surfaces of the disk 1, or contacting them, on the upstream or downstream side in the rotating direction of the disk 1. Thus, on the upstream or downstream side with respect to a pair of upper and lower magnetic heads 101 and 102 in the rotating direction of the disk 1, a small area corresponding to only the width of each magnetic head 101, 102 or the like can be effectively cleaned. Even when the disk 1 is driven to rotate at a high speed, a load torque of the disk 1 can be suppressed at a small value.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the proper chucking even when the frictional torque from a lifter, etc., is decreased at the time of chucking operation, by increasing the rotational friction force in the manner of adding the friction force to a floppy disk. SOLUTION: When a disk cartridge 100 is loaded and positioned, a capacity discriminating hole of the disk cartridge 100 is detected by a detection means 5, therefore, e.g. the high density recording floppy disk having no lifter for abutting liners 105 on the signal recording surface in the cartridge is discriminated. At the time of chucking operation, a pressurizing means 2 is controlled by a control circuit 4, and the outside surface 104a of the cartridge 104 is pressurized by a driver 2a to increase the contact pressure of the liners 105 against the signal recording surface of the floppy disk 101. In this state, a disk table 41 is rotated to generate the rotational friction force required for the chucking operation. At the time of the recording/reproducing operation, the pressurization effected by the pressurizing means 2 is released.

An extent of off-track correction required for a pertinent recording track is calculated based on the inclination (distribution) of the extent of off-track obtained from tracks TS0 and TS1 and respective reference extents of off-track of detection signals DET1 to DET4 obtained from tracks TS1M to TS4M and is outputted to a D/A converter 35 to minutely shift a magnetic head 4A, and the head just tracks a desired recording track on the disk face 3A.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable fast seeking operation and short-time settling operation by nearly equalizing rotary moment that a rotary actuator receives from an air flow on the surface of a disk between the outermost periphery and inner periphery of the disk. CONSTITUTION:The arm 4 of the actuator 3 rotates around the center point P of a rotary shaft 10 and a head 6 atop a support spring 5 moves between the OD track position and ID track position of the disk 1. When the center point P is set on the prolongation of a tangent 19 to the intermediate position MD between both track positions the angles theta1 and theta2' that straight lines 12 and 13' and tangents 14 and 15' contain are nearly equal and the rotary moment that the arm 4 receives becomes small. The angles theta are small and in the opposite directions, so the influence of force F between the head and disk is small and the fast seeking operation and short-time settling operation are enabled.

SOLUTION: Head arms 4, 5 mounted via supporting plate springs 2, 3 to the upper, lower sides of a carriage 1 load magnetic heads 6, 7 to upper, lower opposing faces of leading ends. A leaf spring 9 constituting a load spring presses at a leading end 9a the head arm 5 in a direction of an arrow (a). A load pressure variable leaf spring 8 constituting a load pressure variable load spring presses at a leading end 8a via a ball 13 the head arm 4 in the direction of the arrow (a). The ball 13 is movable along a U groove formed to a head arm upper face 4a and becomes stable at either a positioning recess 14 or a positioning recess 15 by a toggle mechanism. Accordingly, the feed of electricity for varying a load pressure of the magnetic heads 6, 7 is eliminated.
