Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the subject composition containing organic polymer particles having a specific particle size distribution, exhibiting excellent slipperiness, free from generation of friction scratch and abraded dust, giving a film having small number of coarse protrusions on the surface and useful for a high-density magnetic recording medium, etc. CONSTITUTION: This polyester composition is produced by compounding (A) a polyester composed mainly of polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate, etc., with (B) organic polymer particles having a relative standard deviation of the particle diameter of =5 times the average diameter of =60%). The component B has an average particle diameter of preferably 0.01-2.0μm and the amount of the component B in the composition is preferably 0.01-10wt.%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out the drying and solid-phase polymn. of polyester chips of which the main repeating unit is ethylene terephthalate without degrading the quality of the chips and to shorten the time taken for raising the temp. in the solid-phase polymn. by thermally treating the chips under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:After polyester chips of which the main repeating unit is ethylene terephthalate are heated under atmospheric pressure to raise its temp. to 95-120 deg.C, the ambient pressure is lowered to 20Torr or lower. Next, an inert gas is introduced until the ambient pressure reaches atmospheric pressure or higher. Then the chips are thermally treated to raise its mean temp. to 180 deg.C and kept at 180 deg.C or higher in a vacuum for 4hr or longer.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly grasp the abnormal flow of strands with a very simple means by a method wherein a means, which stops the discharge of the strands when the abnormality of temperature is judged by a temperature abnormality judging means for the temperature detected with a temperature detecting means provided near a strand guiding device, is equipped. SOLUTION: A strand guiding device 6, which movingly guides strands 5 discharged from a die head 3 while cooling them down, is provided. The guide device 6 connects a first chute plate 7 to a strand guide groove plate 9. Further, a cutting device 10 for cutting the strands 5 into the shape of chips is equipped ahead the strand guide groove plate 9. In this case, just before the cutting device 10 and near the top surface of the strand guide groove plate 9, a temperature detecting means 11 is provided. Then, an output signal 16 concerning a detected temperature is sent to a control unit 12. In this case, in which the detected temperature becomes higher than the temperature at a steady running, the abnormality of the detected temperature is judged and a signal 17 for stopping the discharge of strands is sent to a strand forming device 1.

SOLUTION: A polyester is mixed with 0.005-5.0wt.% calcite calcium carbonate particles having a mean particle diameter of 0.2-1.0μm, a coefficient(%) of particle diameter variation represented by the formula: diameter (X) of disperesed particle/diameter (Y) of agglomerated particle ×100 (where X is the diameter of a particle before being subjected to ultrasonic dispersion treatment, and Y is the diameter of a particle after being subjected to ultrasonic dispersion treatment) of 70-95% and a particle size distribution ratio represented by d25 /d75 of 2, 5 or below (wherein d25 is the particle diameter at a 25% cumulation calculated from the side of larger particle diameters in the cumulative volume distribution curve of particles, and d75 is the particle diameter at a 75% cumulation calculated from the side of larger particle diameters in the cumulative volume distribution curve of particles) and optionally surface-treated with a polycarboxylate and optionally 0.005-5.0wt.% aluminum oxide particles having a mean particle diameter of 0.01-0.3μm.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester composition which has excellent moldability and can give a film excellent in slipperiness, abrasion resistance and scratch resistance by using internal deposition type particles having a specified particle diameter and a specified particle diameter distribution. SOLUTION: This polyester composition contains internal deposition type particles prepared by performing the reaction for producing a polyester in the presence of 0.05-3.0mol%, based on the total dicarboxylic acid component, total of an alkali metal compound and an hlkaline earth metal compound and 0.05-1.5mol%, based on the total dicarboxylic acid component, phosphorus compound to deposit particles during the reaction. Because the internal deposition type particles have a mean particle diameter of 0.5-10.0μm and an at least bimodal particle diameter distribution, this composition has excellent moldability such as fiber-forming properties and film-forming properties and can give a molding excellent in slipperiness and surface properties.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain polyester particles having favorable workability in film-making or filament-making process by a method wherein heat treatment is carried out under the condition that the ratio of water to the polyester particle and the temperatures of the polyester particle and of the water to be added are set to lie within specified ranges. CONSTITUTION:Rectangular parallelepiped polyethylene terephthalate copolymer having the predetermined diameter, for example, is charged from a polyester particle charging port 4 in a device. Next, polyester particles are heated by heating medium through both the spraying of water heated up to the predetermined temperature from water spraying nozzles 7 provided at the upper part of the device and the agitation of agitating blades 9. The weight ratio of the polyester particle to the water to set to be 100:0.5-100:10. Steam developed through the spraying of the water is discharged through a steam suction port 8, resulting in keeping the interior of a main body at normal pressure. After the predetermined period of time, the spraying of the water is stopped and the polyester particles are taken out of the device through a polyester particle discharging port 5. No fusion of the particles occurs in the drying process of the obtained polyester particles. Further, the obtained polyester particles are suitable for the forming of film or the like.
