Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin composition which can give a molded product having excellent mechanical properties, showing toughness in the direction vertical to the direction of orientation of molecular chains and having excellent face impact resistance by mixing a specified liquid crystal resin (A) with a polycarbonate resin (B) and/or a polystyrene resin (C) and a specified amount of a non-liquid-crystal polyester (D). SOLUTION: Component A comprises structural units represented by the formulae I, II, III and IV [wherein R1 is at least one group of formula V; and R2 is a group of formula VI (wherein X is H or a halogen)] and present in such amounts that the total of structural units I and II amounts to 40-5mol% based on the total of structural units I, II and III, the amount of structural units III amounts to 40-5mol% of the total of structural units I, II and III, the amount of structural units IV is substantially equimolar to the total amount of structural units II and III, and the molar ratio of structural units to structural units II is 75/25 to 95/5. The mixing ratio is such that 1-45wt.% component A is mixed with 30-98wt.% components B and/or C and 1-25wt.% component D. One hundred (100) pts.wt. this composition is mixed with 0-200 pts.wt. filler (e.g. glass fiber).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a copolyester resin which exhibits liquid crystal properties when melted, can be molded with a usual molding machine, and is excellent in mechanical characteristics and heat resistance and improved particularly in weld strength by copolymerizing a copolyester of specified structural units with a polyfunctional aromatic compound. SOLUTION: This resin is obtained by copolymerizing structural units of formulas I, II, III and IV (R1 stands for at least one group selected from those of formula III; R2 stands for at least one group selected from those of formula IV; and Y is Cl or H) and at least one kind of structural units obtained from polyfunctional compounds of formulas V and VI (Ar1 is a 3-substituted aromatic residue; Ar2 is a 4-substituted aromatic residue; and X1 to X7 are each polyester- forming -Oor -CO-). It has a constitution wherein the total of the structural units of formulas V and VI accounts for 0.01-5mol% of the total of those of formulas I, II, III, V and VI, the structural units of formula I account for 70-85mol% of the total of those of formulas I, II and III, and the molar ratio of the structural units of formula II to those of formula III is (7.5:2.5) to (4:6), and it has an inherent viscosity of 0.5-15dl/g.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the liquid crystal resin composition capable of suppressing the corrosive gas evolution in heating or molten state, useful for a molded articles such as electric or electronic parts by blending a liquid crystal polyester(amide) with a specific hydrotalcite and filler. CONSTITUTION: The composition consists of (A) a liquid crystal resin comprising liquid crystal polyester(amide for example a resin comprising (A1 ) the unit of the formula I, (A2 ) a unit of -(O-R1 -O)- (R1 is 4,4'-biphenylene, 1,4-phenylene): (A3 ) a unit of formula: -(O-CH2 CH2 -O)- and (A4 ) the unit of formula II (R2 is 1,4- or 1,3-phenylene, etc.) in which (A1 +A2 ) and A3 in (A1 +A2 +A3 ) are 60-90mol% and 40-5mol%, respectively and the molar ratio of A1 /A2 is 75/25-95/5}, and (B) the compound of the formula III (M is a divalent metal ion; M is a trivalent metal ion; A is an anion of n-valency; 0 =0) in an amount of 0.001-10 pts.wt. and (C) a filler in an amount of 0-200 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of component (A).

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the crystal resonator having a base cover of resin made with excellent moldability, heat resistance, strength and size accuracy by composition the base and/or cover of a molding formed by injection molding of liquid crystal resin. CONSTITUTION: An electrode 2 is closely adhered to both sides of a crystal chip 1 and two lead wires 4 are connected from both ends via a conductive adhesives 3 and the lead wires 4 are fixed by a glass 5 and supported by a plate base 6 and the entire components are covered with a box shaped cover 7. The crystal resonator is composed of a molding whose base 6 and/or a cover 7 are formed by injection molding of liquid crystal resin. As a preferable liquid crystal resin, a liquid crystal polyester resin, a liquid crystal polycarbonate resin, a liquid crystal polyester amide resin or a liquid crystal polyether resin or the like is used. Through the constitution above, injection molding is attained even with a thin thickness, size accuracy is excellent and excellent strength and heat resistance are obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a case excellent in strength, solder heat resistance and dimensional accuracy by integrating a metal part and a liquid crystal resin to perform the injection molding of a case for an electric filter device. CONSTITUTION: A metal terminal 1 is closely brought into contact with the bottom part of a case 2 for a box-shaped electric filter device opened in one direction and integrally subjected to injection molding along with a liquid crystal resin. As a pref. liquid crystal resin, for example, a liquid crystal polyester resin, a liquid crystal polycarbonate resin, a liquid crystal polyesteramide resin, a liquid crystal polyamide resin, a liquid crystal polyether resin and the like are designated but the liquid crystal polyester resin is pref. from the aspect of the balance of moldability and physical properties. When the quantity of heat of crystal fusion by differential thermal measurement of the liquid crystal polyester resin is set to 1.5J/g or more, the polyester resin becomes good in crystallinity and is excellent in strength, solder heat resistance and dimensional accuracy and fitted to the case 2 for the electric filter device.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To decrease the amt. of a residual liq. crystal polymer in a polycondensation reactor and improve the yield and heat stability of the polymer produced by using a specific polycondensation reactor. CONSTITUTION: In a polycondensation reactor 6, a stirrer is installed which has a bottom blade 5 and helical ribbon blades 4 attached to at least two shafts 3 of a frame which has no central shaft. The shafts 3 are located at a distance of shorter than 1/5 of the diameter of the reactor from the wall surface of the reactor. In the reactor 6, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, a diaminated arom. dihydroxy compd., and a bis(β-hydroxyethyl) ester of an arom. dicarboxylic acid are subjected to polycondensation by acetic acid removal to obtain a liq. crystal polymer having a logarithmic viscosity of 0.3dl/g or higher (in pentachlorophenol at 60 deg.C in a concn. of 0.1g/dl) and a melt viscosity of 10-20,000P.

(obtd. from the temp. dependence curve of the complex viscosity) of 25 deg.C or lower.
