Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the various properties of a tire by constructing a belt with a cord of fibers in a polyvinyl alcohol family, in which the degree of polymerization, tensile strength, the initial modulus of elasticity, and the fineness of a single yarn are specified, and no long period image is observed in a X-ray small angular scattering measurement. CONSTITUTION:Polymer in a polyvinyl alcohol family, the degree of polymerization is 2,000, or more is used as the belt member of a tire, besides such fibers in a polyvinyl alcohol family are twisted together, as having tensile strength of 15g/d or more, the initial modulus of elasticity of 250g/d or more, the fineness of a single yarn of 0.5-5 denier, and having no long period image in a X-ray small angular scattering measurement, then adhesive for bonding rubber is applied to said fibers which shall be, is heat-treated in a stretched condition to form a cord so as to be used as the belt member of the tire. Various properties such control stability, reduction in fuel consumption, durability, and the reproductibility of quality can be improved by this constitution.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an ink ribbon excellent in typing durability, printing sharpness and dimensional stability to typing, by forming said ink ribbon from a fabric wherein a filament yarn containing filaments comprising a polyvinyl alcohol fiber having high strength and high modulus of elasticity is arranged at least as a warp or weft yarn. CONSTITUTION:A high-strength yarn has a tensile strength of at least 12g/d and a modulus of elasticity of 280g/d or more and, by using this yarn having high strength and high modulus of elasticity, an ink ribbon is markedly reduced in elongation with the elapse of use time and keeps stable running capacity and stably holds printing sharpness over a long period of time. With respect to the use of the yarn in a fabric, the denier of a warp yarn and a weft yarn is generally set, for example, to a range of 40-70 denier and the density of the warp yarn is appropriately selected within a range of about 170-210/25mm and that of the weft yarn within a range of about 100-120/25mm. In preparing a fiber, polyvinyl alcohol with a polymerization degree of 1500 or more is used and one obtained by a dry or wet spinning method is used.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film with excellent performance such as high tensile strength and elastic coefficient and non-solubility to boiling water by a method wherein polyvinyl alcohol solution, the polymerization degree of which is higher than the specified value, is discharged in the air or in the inert atmosphere and, after that, grown into a solidified film and further, after being biaxially oriented, heat-set. CONSTITUTION:Polyvinyl alcohol, the polymerization degree of which is 2,500 or more, is dissolved in solvent so as to give the concentration of polymer of 30wt% or less. The resultant solution is discharged through a slit-like nozzle in the air or in the inert atmosphere and, after that, introduced in solidifying medium so as to grow into a solidified film. After the solidified film is biaxially oriented under the orienting temperature of 100-240 deg.C so as to realize areal draw ratio of 2,000% or more, the oriented film is finally heat-set at the temperature of 200-250 deg.C. When polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has the high polymerization degree as mentioned above, the PVA film shows the mechanical performances such as the tensile strength of 40kg/mm or higher, elastic coefficient of 250kg/mm or higher. In addition, when said PVA is highly oriented, the resultant PVA does not dissolve in boiling water and its heat resistance is remarkably improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled yarns having a high strength and elastic modulus and knot strength, by dry jet-wet spinning a solution of polyethylene having a sufficiently high molecular weight, coagulating the solution, extracting the solvent, drying the resultant filaments while vibrating the filaments with a turbulent air stream, heat-treating the resultant filament yarn and drawing the filament yarn under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene having >=700,000, preferably >=2000,000 weight- average molecular weight is dissolved in a solvent, and the resultant solution in 1-8wt% concentration is dry jet-wet spun and coagulated. After extracting the solvent, the filaments are dried while blowing a turbulent air stream thereon, heat-treated at 80-110 deg.C under tension and drawn at a draw ratio to give >1.5- =50g/d filament strength. Thus, the a aimed multifilament yarns >=1,500g/denier elastic modulus, >=0.013 height in gamma dispersion peak of tan delta, >=1,000g/denier value of dynamic elastic modulus (E') at 100 deg.C, >=15g/denier knot strength and no recongnized reflection showing a long period on the meridian line in the small-angle X-ray scattering pattern and gluing between filaments.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled fibers, prepared by melt spinning a specific polymer consisting of specified repeating constituent units, having improved heat resistance and chemical resistance, and potential of strength as industrial fibers, and suitable for heat-resistant work clothing, etc. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyether ketone polymer consisting of 80mol% or more repeating constituent units of the formula, and having an intrinsic viscosity >=0.7 is melt extruded through a spinneret preferably at 380-430 deg.C and passed through a heating hood consisting of a heating cylinder provided just under the spinneret, and containing a gaseous atmosphere at 300-700 deg.C therein, cooled and solidified. The cooled and solidified filaments are then drawn in a heating medium at a temperature of 150 deg.C - the melting point of the polymer or in contact with the heating medium at a draw ratio >=3.0 to give the amied fibers having a tensile strength >=4.0g/denier and a knot strength >=3.0G/denier.

Abstract: PURPOSE:A polyester copolymer containing diphenyldicarboxylic acid is melt spun under specific conditions into fiber and drawn to produce the titled fiber suitably used as an industiral material, becuase of its high Young's modulus, high strength and elongation. CONSTITUTION:A polyester copolymer that is made from (A) the dicarboxylic acid component consisting of 45-75mol% 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid and of 45-75mol% terephthalic acid and (B) the diol component mainly consisting of ethylene glycol, thus having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5-1.8, is melt spun, passed through the heating chimney right under the spinneret and/or through a cooling medium to adjust the optical birefringence of the spun yarn to less than 40X10 . Then, the resultant yarn is drawn to give the objective fiber with an optical birefringence of 250-400X10 . USE:Tire cord or conveyor belt.
