    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fiber-reinforced plastic having both excellent mechanical properties and flame retardance and a prepreg excellent in moldability in order to obtain the fiber-reinforced plastics. SOLUTION: This prepreg comprises carbon fibers impregnated with a composition comprising an epoxy resin component composed of at least one epoxy resin selected from the group of brominated epoxy resins, bisphenol A type epoxy resins having a high epoxy equiv., novolak type epoxy resins, bisphenol A type epoxy resins having a low epoxy equiv. and tetraglycidyldiaminodiphenylmethane, a curing agent for the epoxy resin and antimony trioxide. Furthermore, the carbon-fiber reinforced plastics is obtained from the prepreg.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a FRTP product with excellent dynamic characteristics by compounding thermoplastics resin with a specific melting viscosity and strip- shaped members consisting of reinforcing fibers disposed in a random direction within two dimensions and paralleled in one direction, and make it a pseudo isotropy in its surface. CONSTITUTION:Strip-shaped members are compounded, consisting of thermoplastics resin of 1000-15000 poise in its melting viscosity and reinforcing fibers disposed in a random direction within two dimensions and paralleled in one direction. And, the strip-shaped members are 0.2mm or less in its thickness. The length in a direction perpendicularly intersecting relative to the direction of the reinforcing fibers is 2-25mm, and the length in a direction of the reinforcing fibers is 5-30mm, furthermore, (the length in a direction perpendicularly intersecting relative to the direction of reinforcing fibers)/(the length in a direction of the reinforcing fibers) is 0.15-1.5. Besides, it is a pseudo isotropy in its surface. Owing to this, it may be more uniform in the distribution of the reinforcing fibers, and it may also be excellent in its molding property and isotropy.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a top and base of an automotive radiator, by blending a mixture of a polyamide, such as nylon 6 or nylon 66, with a higher polyamide, such as nylon 11, as necessary, adding an inorganic reinforcing material and molding the resultant blend. CONSTITUTION:A top and base obtained by blending 100pts.wt. mixture of (A) 5-95wt.% polyamide (preferably nylon 66) containing caproamide and/or hexamethylene adipamide units as main constituent units with (B) 5-95wt.% polyamide (preferably nylon 6.9, nylon 6.10 or nylon 6.12) prepared by melt polymerizing one or more selected from equimolar salts (except hexamethylene diammonium adipate) of 11-22C aliphatic amino acids, lactams and 6-12C aliphatic diamines with 6-12C aliphatic dicarboxylic acids with (C) 0-10pts.wt. inorganic reinforcing material (preferably glass fibers), melt kneading the blend and molding the kneaded blend (preferably by injection molding).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled lightweight composite material of excellent strength, comprising a specified carbon fiber and a matrix resin. CONSTITUTION:A prepreg is obtained by impregnation a carbon fiber having a 1.5mu-thick surface layer whose perfectness of crystal is on level with that of the fiber core, said surface layer having a 0.2mu-thick or below super-thin outer layer whose perfectness of crystal is low as compared with that of the fiber core,a tensile strength at a fiber volume rate of 70%>=370kg/mm , a tensile strength of a resin-impregnated strand >=600kg/mm , a content of heat- decomposable organic matter of 0.05-0.5wt%, and a ratio of functional group content (OIs/CIs) detected by X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy of 0.1-0.4 with a matrix resin (e.g.., epoxy resin) or a tensile elongation at break (JIS-K-7113)>=3.0 (e.g., epoxy resin). Several to several tens of such prepregs are laminated and heated to cure the resin.
