Abstract: A method comprising: providing a facility with at least one controlled access electronic printing machine; printing original documents with said controlled access electronic printing machine, wherein printed images formed thereby arise from marking materials containing at least one photoactive additive; equipping all uncontrolled access reprographic devices within said facility with a secure illumination source capable of exposing an object document with sufficient intensity to activate said photoactive additive; and illuminating said object document with said secure illumination source of said uncontrolled access reprographic device, wherein said object documents having original document images printed thereon cannot be copied or scanned in a normal copy or scan illumination interval.

Abstract: The method involves storing a reference tone reproduction curve and providing a single test pattern. The print quality is corrected according to the sensed test pattern and reference tone reproduction curve. The test pattern has background, halftone and solid area levels. It is approx. 1 inch square with pixel values varying between 0 and 250 over the length of the test pattern. A single test patch is allocated ramp function with pixel values uniformly varying between 255 to 0. The ramp function pixel values vary along the process direction. They are held to a constant value along the slow scan direction. The pattern looks like a wedge. A tone reproduction curve is extracted by convoluting pixel values of the wedge pattern with a sensor model. The values are plotted with the sensor reading at each sample point in the process direction.

Abstract: A limited number of voltage measurements are received from a multiple illuminant color sensor at the direction of a color sensor controller. The received sensor voltages are normalized in accordance with a calibration look-up table. Next, the normalized sensor voltages are converted to reflectance values based on a correction look-up table. Then, a reconstruction look-up table is used to convert the reflectance values at a predetermined wavelength to reflectance values with a predetermined wavelength separation.

Abstract: A color marking device including a control system for calibration of the device based upon dynamic color balance control of an output image. The system comprises a front end converter for converting an input signal representativ e of a target image comprising a preselected color into a device-dependent control signal in accordance with a device TRC, a color marking device for outputting an outpu t image in response to the control signal, a sensor for measuring a parameter from t he output image representative of a color of the output image, and, a point-wise controller for comparing the parameter with a corresponding parameter from the target image and constructing adjusted controlled points for the device TRC when the measured parameter and the corresponding parameter vary by a preselected value, a col or balance controller for constructing an adjusted device TRC from the controll ed points, whereby subsequently generated output images are output with the adjusted device TRC and, more accurately represent target input images.
