Abstract: Solid material (I) with, on average, at least two groups (a) with at least one light-activatable group per molecule, these groups being structurally different and attached to the base structure of the solid by urethane groups. Independent claims are also included for: (i) solid material containing: (a) on average more than one group (a) as defined above; and (b) 0.01-1 mol% (based on the double bond content) chemically-bonded stabilizer(s), obtained by reacting the starting materials in the melt; (ii) coating materials, adhesives or sealants containing (I); (iii) a process for the production of coatings, adhesive layers or seals on optionally primed substrates by applying (I) in the form of a melt, a powder, a powder slurry, a dispersion or a solution (in organic solvent), drying (or leaving to solidify, or leaving in the molten state as appropriate), melting the solid coating by heating, and curing with UV light; (iv) coatings, adhesive layers and seals obtained from (I) and/or by this process; and (v) optionally primed substrates with at least one coating, adhesive layer and/or seal made from (I), especially bodywork for cars and utility vehicles, industrial components (including plastic parts, packaging, coils and electrical components) and furniture.

Abstract: Solid mixtures (I) comprising: (A) solid (meth)acrylate copolymer(s) with a number-average mol. wt. (Mn) of 850-10000 and a mol. wt. distribution (Mw/Mn) of 1.0-5.0, containing at least one group (a) with light-activatable bond(s); and (B) solid compound(s) comprising a base structure with more than one group (a) as above per molecule. Independent claims are also included for: (i) coating materials, adhesives or sealants containing (I); (ii) a process for the production of coatings, adhesive layers or seals on optionally primed substrates by applying (I) in the form of a melt, a powder, a powder slurry, a dispersion or a solution (in organic solvent), drying (or leaving to solidify, or leaving in the molten state as appropriate), melting the solid coating by heating, and curing with UV light; (iii) coatings, adhesive layers and seals obtained from (I) and/or by this process; (iv) optionally primed substrates with at least one coating, adhesive layer and/or seal made from (I), especially bodywork for cars and utility vehicles, industrial components (including plastic parts, packaging, coils and electrical components) and furniture.

Abstract: The invention relates to aqueous polyurethane dispersions which can be hardened with UV radiation and thermally. Said polyurethane dispersions contain the following: compounds bonded with polyisocyanates, with C=C doubl e bonds that can be polymerised with UV-radiation; aliphatic diols inserted wi th isocyanates, with a molecular weight of less than 500 g/mol; compounds bonde d with isocyanates, with carboxylic acid or sulphonic acid groups and/or salts thereof, free hydroxyl groups and compounds with blocked isocyanate groups. The inventive polyurethane dispersions are suitable for coating thermostable substrates such as metal substrates and can be advantageously used for clear automobile lacquers.
