Abstract:
In one aspect, the present invention provides a chromatographic stationary phase material for various different modes of chromatography represented by Formula 1:[X](W)a(Q)b(T)c (Formula 1). X can be a high purity chromatographic core composition having a surface comprising a silica core material, metal oxide core material, an inorganic-organic hybrid material or a group of block copolymers thereof. W can be absent and/or can include hydrogen and/or can include a hydroxyl on the surface of X. Q can be a functional group that minimizes retention variation over time (drift) under chromatographic conditions utilizing low water concentrations. T can include one or more hydrophilic, polar, ionizable, and/or charged functional groups that chromatographically interact with the analyte. Additionally, b and c can be positive numbers, with the ratio 0.05 = 0.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a chromatographic stationary phase material various different types of chromatography. One example chromatographic stationary phase is represented by Formula 1 [X](W)a(Q)b(T)c (Formula 1). X can be a high purity chromatographic core composition. W can be absent and/or can include hydrogen and/or can include hydroxyl on the surface of X. Q can be bound directly to X and can include a first hydrophilic, polar, ionizable, and/or charged functional group that chromatographically interacts with the analyte. T can be bound directly to X and can include a second hydrophilic, polar, ionizable, and/or charged functional group that chromatographically interacts with the analyte. Additionally, Q and T can essentially eliminate chromatographic interaction between the analyte, and X and W, thereby minimizing retention variation over time (drift or change) under chromatographic conditions utilizing low water concentrations.
Abstract:
Pumps used in liquid chromatography applications employ actuators for pressurizing and moving liquid. An actuator includes a pump head having a chamber, a gland, a movable rod extending through the gland into the chamber of the pump head, and a plunger seal disposed in the gland around the rod for sealing against fluidic leakage from the chamber. The plunger seal has an annular flange that provides an OD (outer diameter) seal against the gland. The flange defines a seal cavity. The pump head further includes an outlet port and an outlet channel. One end of the outlet channel is in communication with the outlet port and the other end of the outlet channel opens into the seal cavity of the plunger seal. The outlet channel provides a flow path for liquid in the chamber to travel towards the outlet port in response to movement of the rod.
Abstract:
A device for making particulate analyte molecules comprising a nebulizer producing a plume of liquid droplets, a vessel having a chamber to receive the plume in which the chamber has a nebulization section, a desolvation section. The nebulization section is cooled to form a condensed waste from a portion of said plume. The desolvation section is heated to form solvent gas molecules and particulate analyte molecules.
Abstract:
In a chromatography system, including within the system an extraction vessel which receives a mixture of mobile phase and co-solvent and provides a mixture of mobile phase and co-solvent with sample to a chromatography column to increase sample concentration within the mixture. In addition, adding a reservoir to the chromatography system to form an extraction-pressurization system, wherein the mixture with sample may be collected in the reservoir and may diffuse and equilibrate to an approximately uniform sample concentration before being provided to the chromatography column. Also in addition, providing a plurality of extraction-pressurization systems to allow near-simultaneous extraction of sample and loading of the column, or concurrent extraction and loading by the plurality of extraction-pressurization systems.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a method of separating a compound of interest, particularly unsaturated compound(s) of interest, from a mixture. The compound is separated using a column having a chromatographic stationary phase material for various different modes of chromatography containing a first substituent and a second substituent. The first substituent minimizes compound retention variation over time under chromatographic conditions. The second substituent chromatographically and selectively retains the compound by incorporating one or more aromatic, polyaromatic, heterocyclic aromatic, or polyheterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon groups, each group being optionally substituted with an aliphatic group.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to manipulating pressure-related hysteresis in a pressurized flow system by setting the pressure of the system to a predetermined location in the hysteresis band to advantageously minimize an effect of the pressure related hysteresis on the pressure of the system or to advantageously benefit from the effects of the hysteresis on the pressure of the system.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments are directed to a rotary selector valve that includes a valve body that includes a rotor and a stator. The stator includes a first port for flow of a first flow material and a second port for flow of a second flow material. The rotor includes a groove for flow of at least one of the first flow material and the second flow material. The rotor includes a vent groove disposed between the first port and the second port for venting at least a portion of at least one of the first flow material and the second flow material to an exterior of the valve body. Exemplary methods of operating a rotary selector valve and C02-based chromatography flow systems including a rotary selector valve are also provided.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and method of cooling a pump head by transferring heat to the actuator body, which is joined to the pump head via a support plate. In some embodiments the heat transfer is accomplished by means of two conductive plates, one placed on either side of the support plate between it and the pump head and actuator body. In some embodiments the heat transfer is controlled by a thermoelectric device. Also disclosed is a second system and method of cooling fluid to move through a pump head by pre-chilling it.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments are directed to apparatus, systems and methods used in connection with a needle valve device operating in a pressurized flow system. The apparatus, systems and methods provide for automatic positioning of a needle relative to a seat in the needle valve device to provide consistent calibration with minimal user interaction after a maintenance event or upon a start-up of the pressurized flow system. The apparatus, systems and methods utilize a calibration collar secured to a shaft of an actuator within the needle valve device. The calibration collar includes one or more locking mechanism and a spring.
