Abstract:
A novel strain Azospirillum brasilense CW301 with nitrogen fixing ability as well as growth enhancing effect is provided to transfer the fixed nitrogen to plants and increase nitrogen absorption of the plants, so that the strain is used as a substitute for chemical fertilizer. A strain Azospirillum brasilense CW301(KACC 91224P) has nitrogen fixing ability as well as growth enhancing effect and is isolated from wheat. The biofertilizer contains Azospirillum brasilense CW301(KACC 91224P) and is prepared by culturing Azospirillum brasilense CW301(KACC 91224P). The growth of plants is promoted by soaking seeds of plants in the cultured medium of Azospirillum brasilense CW301(KACC 91224P), wherein the plant is tomato, Chinese cabbage, lettuce, cucumber, red pepper, Welsh onion or crown daisy.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A microorganism capable of producing a heat-tolerant antimicrobial peptide, derived from Korean salted sea foods is provided, which antimicrobial peptide has a strong antimicrobial activity against various plant or animal pathogenic bacteria. CONSTITUTION: The microorganism Bacillus subtilis JKK238 being isolated from Korean salted sea foods is capable of producing a heat-tolerant antimicrobial peptide which has a strong antimicrobial activity to known pathogenic fungi consisting of Pyricularia oryzae, Botrytis cinera, Penicillium sp. Fusarium oxysporum, Collectotrichum cocodes, Phytophthora crytogea and Rhizoctonia solani, and other microorganisms of Streptomyces scabies, Erwinia caractovora and Listeria monocytogenes. The heat-tolerant antimicrobial peptide may be added into feeds, foods or agricultural chemicals to inhibit the growth of the pathogenic fungi and other microorganisms.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A novel Bacillus sp. strain having a strong antifungal activity against a plant pathogen is provided, thereby effectively inhibiting the diseases occurring in oranges. CONSTITUTION: The Bacillus sp. YJP-1 having a strong antifungal activity against Penicillium sp. which causes a diseases in oranges is isolated from the soil, Its preparation method comprises the steps of: collecting a soil sample, spreading it on NB plate, and cultivating it at 30 deg.C for 1 to 2 days; inoculating the colonies grown in NB broth and cultivating them at 30 deg.C for 76 hours with agitation; centrifuging the culture at 12,000 g for 20 minutes to obtain the supernatant; measuring an antifungal activity of the culture by a paper disc method using Penicillium digitatum (ATCC 10030); and selecting and identifying a strain showing a strong antifungal activity.
