CONSTITUTION: The microorganism Bacillus subtilis JKK238 being isolated from Korean salted sea foods is capable of producing a heat-tolerant antimicrobial peptide which has a strong antimicrobial activity to known pathogenic fungi consisting of Pyricularia oryzae, Botrytis cinera, Penicillium sp. Fusarium oxysporum, Collectotrichum cocodes, Phytophthora crytogea and Rhizoctonia solani, and other microorganisms of Streptomyces scabies, Erwinia caractovora and Listeria monocytogenes. The heat-tolerant antimicrobial peptide may be added into feeds, foods or agricultural chemicals to inhibit the growth of the pathogenic fungi and other microorganisms.
