Abstract: An intake manifold for a diesel engine is provided to allow fluid to flow through an inlet of a surge tank at a high speed by tapering the surge tank in the flow direction of intake air. An intake manifold for a diesel engine comprises an inlet(10) of an intake manifold through which intake air is introduced. A runner(30) supplies the intake air to each cylinder. A surge tank(20) serves as an intermediate passage between the inlet of the intake manifold and the runner. The surge tank is tapered at an angle of 1.1° in the flow direction of intake air such that a flow rate in the inlet of the intake manifold is greater than a flow rate in an outlet of the runner when the intake air flows through the inlet of the intake manifold. When the tapered intake manifold is mounted on a cylinder head, swirl variation between cylinders is reduced.
