Abstract: In a process for producing light-sensitive polyamide layers which are suitable for producing photopolymeric printing forms or relief forms, a polyamide soluble or dispersible in the solvent, a photopolymerisable, low-molecular, ethylenically unsaturated compound, a photopolymerisation initiator and, if appropriate, further conventional additives are homogeneously mixed with one another, and the homogeneous mixture is, if necessary, freed of interfering volatile constituents by degassing and then formed to give the light-sensitive layer. According to the invention, the photopolymerisable mixture is, before forming to give the light-sensitive layer, heated largely with exclusion of oxygen and with simultaneous movement or further mixing in the melt for a period of 5 seconds to about 10 minutes to a temperature which is 20 to 80 DEG C above the softening point of the mixture.

Abstract: Relief plates and printing plates are produced by a positive-working process, using a photopolymerizable layer which contains one or more photopolymerizable, olefinically unsaturated compounds, one or more photoinitiators which can be activated by UV light, and a combination of a phenothiazinium, phenoxazinium, phenazinium or acridinium dye with a mild reducing agent which, on exposure to visible light, is capable of reducing the dye in the excited electronic state. The photopolymerizable layer is exposed imagewise to light having a wavelength longer than 450 nm, and simultaneously or subsequently exposed uniformly to light having a wavelength of from 300 to 420 nm, after which the unpolymerized areas of the layer are removed.

Abstract: A mixture which is crosslinkable by photopolymerisation, is soluble or dispersible in aqueous media and is based on hydroxyl- and/or amido-containing polymers as binders, photopolymerisable monomers which are compatible therewith and photopolymerisation initiators and which contains, based on its total amount, from 0.1 to 10% by weight of an aldehyde of the formula I in which R is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or a C1-C6-alkyl, C1-C6-alkoxy, C6-C10-aryl or C6-C10-aryloxy radical, can be used in multilayer photosensitive recording materials which can be developed using aqueous media and contain at least one layer of a mixture of this type.

Abstract: Acylphosphine compounds of the formula I where X is oxygen, sulfur or an electron pair, R1 is R4 or OR4, R2 is -OM, where M is a monovalent cation, R3 is aryl which is substituted at least at the two positions ortho to the carbonyl group, and R4 is hydrogen, alkyl or aryl, are very effective photoinitiators for photopolymerizable materials, such as coating compositions, finishes, printing inks, unsaturated polyesters, recording media and preferably aqueous polymer dispersions or solutions.
