    Abstract: Hydroxyoxaalkylmelamines of the formula I wherein R is a radical of the formula II H &lparstr& O-CHR'-CHR' &rparstr& n (II), in which the radicals R' can be identical or different and represent hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl and n has the meanings 2 or 3 and the radicals R and R represent one of the radicals R or hydrogen, are prepared by reaction of melamine with a compound of the formula III H &lparstr& O-CHR'-CHR' &rparstr& n-NH2 (III), wherein R' and n have the meanings indicated above, at a temperature from 120 to 250 DEG C in the presence of an acidic catalyst, the acidic catalyst being employed in an amount from 0.01 to 0.15 mol, relative to 1 mol of melamine.

    Abstract: Condensation products obtainable by the condensation of a mixture containing as the essential components: (A) 90 to 99.9 mol% of a mixture substantially consisting of (a) 30 to 100 mol% melamine and (b) 0 to 70 mol% of a substituted melamine of general formula (I) in which X, X' and X'' are selected from the group consisting of -NH2, -NHR and -NRR', and X, X' and X'' are not -NH2- simultaneously, and R and R' are selected from the group consisting of hydroxy-C2-C10-alkyl, hydroxy-C2-C4-alkyl-(oxa-C2-C4-alkyl)n, where n = 1 to 5, and amino-C2-C12-alkyl, or mixtures of melamines of general formula (I), and (c) 1 to 70 mol%, related to (a)+(b), of a substituted triazine of general formula (II) in which R'' is methyl or phenyl and Z' and Z'' are selected from the group consisting of -NH2, -NHR and NR R , and R and R are selected from the group consisting of hydroxy-C2-C10-alkyl, hydroxy-C2-C4-alkyl-CH2CH2-S-CH2CH2OH and amino-C2-C12-alkyl, or mixtures of the triazines of general formula (II), and (B) 0.1 to 10 mol%, related to (A) (a), (A) (b) and (B), of unsubstituted phenols or phenols substituted by radicals selected from the group C1-C9-alkyl and hydroxy, C1-C4-alkanes substituted with two or three phenol groups, di(hydroxy phenyl)sulphones or mixtures of these phenols, with formaldehyde or formaldehyde-yielding compounds, in which the molar ratio of melamine, substituted melamine of general formula (I) and triazine of general formula (II) to formaldehyde is in the range from 1:1.15 to 1:4.5, and a process for their production, their use in the manufacture of mouldings and such mouldings.

    Abstract: Plastic materials with a melt flow index 230/2.16 of 0.1-100 g/10 minutes contain: (a1) propylene homopolymer with a melt flow index 230/2.16 of 0.1-100 g/10 minutes, or(a2) statistical copolymer of propylene and 2-10C alkene-1 with a comonomer content of less than 15 wt.%, or (a3) a mixt. of 25-97 wt.% of a copolymer of propylene and 0.1-15 wt.% 2-10C alkene-1 and 3-75 wt.% of another propylene copolymer contg. 15-80 wt.% 2-10C alkene-1 units, or(a4) a mixt. of 25-97 wt.% propylene homopolymer and 3-75 wt.% propylene/2-10C alkene-1 copolymer, with a comonomer content of 15-80 wt.% w.r.t. the second polymer, (b) a propylene or ethylene polymer grafted with 0.1-5 wt.% alpha , beta -unsatd. carboxylic acid or acid deriv., with a melt flow index 230/2.16 of 0.01-400 g/10 minutes, and (c) a nitrogen cpd. of formula (I): R =H, 1-30C alkyl, 2-30C alkyl or alk-1-enyl substd. with O atom(s) and/or amino gps., or a gp. of formula (II):HO-(CHR -CHR )m- (II)R =H, 1-4C alkyl or amino; andm=1-100. Also claimed are: (i) a process for the prodn. of the materials, by reacting components (a)-(c) together at 180-280 deg C and 1-100 bar for a mean residence time of 0.2-10 minutes; and(ii) film, fibres and mouldings made from the materials.
