    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous styrene-butadiene polymer dispersion by means of radical aqueous emulsion polymerisation of a monomer mixture M containing styrene, butadiene, and optionally up to 30 wt. %, in relation to 100 wt. % of monomers, of ethylenically unsaturated comonomers other than styrene and butadiene. The reaction is carried out in a polymerisation vessel according to a monomer supply method, in the presence of a regulator system comprising, in relation to 100 wt. % of monomers, between 0.02 and 0.5 wt. % of at least one hydrocarbon KW having between 6 and 20 C atoms and being selected from compounds forming a pentadienyl radical or a 1 - phenylallyl radical by means of abstraction of a hydrocarbon atom, an .alpha .- methylstyrene dimer, and between 0.3 and 2 wt. % of an organic compound S wi th at least one SH group. The inventive method is characterised in that at leas t 30 %, preferably at least 50 %, especially at least 80 %, and ideally the entire amount (or more than 95 %) of the hydrocarbon KW is present in the polymerisation vessel.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous styrene-butadiene polymer dispersion by the radical aqueous emulsion-polymerisation of a monomer mixture M, containing: between 40 and 80 wt. % styrene as monomer M1; between 20 and 60 wt. % butadiene as monomer M2 and between 0 and 40 wt. %, (in relation to l00 wt. % monomers), of ethylenically unsaturated comonomers M3 that differ from styrene and butadiene, according to a monomer feed process in the presence of between 0.05 and 0.5 wt. %, (in relation to l00 wt. % monomers), of at least one hydrocarbon KW comprising between 6 and 20 C atoms, selected from compounds, which form a pentadienyl or a 1-phenylallyl radical during the abstraction of a hydrogen atom, or from .alpha.-methylstyrene dimers. Said method is characterised in that at least 30 % of the hydrocarbon KW is already present in the polymerisation vessel and the residual quantity of the hydrocarbon KW is fed to the polymerisation reaction during the course of the latter.
