Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polyphenylene sulfide resin composition reduced in the burr formation and improved in weld strength by mixing a specified polyphenylene sulfide resin with a specified liquid crystal polymer, a specified epoxy compound and a filler. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. resin composition comprising 95-5wt.% polyphenylene sulfide resin having a number-average molecular weight of 7000-15000 (gel permeation chromatography using a 1-chloronaphthalene solvent), having no cross- linkage and containing 70mol% or above repeating units of formula I and 5-95wt.% liquid crystal polymer capable of forming an anisotropic melt phase when melted is mixed with 0.1-5 pts.wt. at least one epoxy compound selected from between the compounds of formulas II and III (wherein R1 is -OG, a group of formula IV or a group of formula V; R2 is -COOG or R1; and G is a group of formula VI) and 0-400 pts.wt. filler, and the resulting mixture is melt-kneaded at 280-380 deg.C.

CONSTITUTION:A resin compsn. is obtd. by melt mixing 100 pts.wt. resin mixture comprising 95-30wt.% polyphenylene sulfide resin mixture and 5-70wt.% thermotropic liq. -crystal resin with 20-250 pts.wt. at least one filler selected from fibrous and nonfibrous fillers and, if necessary, further with an alkoxysilane compd. and an epoxy compd. The polyphenylene sulfide resin mixture comprises 90-30wt.% virtually non-cross-linked polyphenylene sulfide resin having a number-average mol.wt. of 7,000-15,000 and a total ash content of 0.3wt.% or lower and 10-70wt.% virtually non-cross-linked polyphenylene sulfide resin having a number-average mol.wt. of 3,000-6,000.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyester composed of plural structural units, moldable by melt-molding and suitable for the molding of thin-walled parts and precision parts, etc., by copolymerizing a specific amount of a hydroxycarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester containing 30-90mol.% of a structural unit of formula I (X is bivalent benzene ring, etc.), formula II (Y is bivalent benzene ring, etc.) and formula III (Y is bivalent benzene ring, etc.) at a ratio [II/(II+III)] of 10-100mol.% and having a melt viscosity of preferably 100-1,500 poise can be produced by mixing (A) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid such as 1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid with e.g. an acylated product of (B) p-hydroxybenzoic acid and/or 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid and (C) a dioxy compound (e.g. hydroquinone) and subjecting the mixture to deacetylating polycondensation reaction.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyphenylene sulfide resin molding reduced in the burr formation and improved in weld strength by using a composition prepared by mixing a specified polyphenylene sulfide resin with a specified liquid crystal polymer, a specified epoxy compound and a filler. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt., in total, 95-5wt.% polyphenylene sulfide(PPS) having a number-average molecular weight of 7000-15000 (gel permeation chromatography using a 1-chloronaphthalene solvent) and having no cross-linkage and 5-95wt.% liquid crystal polymer capable of forming an anisotropic melt phase when melted is mixed with 0.1-5 pts.wt. at least either of the epoxy compounds of formulas I and II (wherein G is a group of formula III) and 0-400 pts.wt. filler, and the resulting mixture is injection-molded under conditions including a cylinder temperature equal to the lowest possible molding temperature +10$0C, a mold temperature of 130 deg.C and a 1mm-thick ASTM No.4 dumbbell to obtain a molding composed of a nonweld part and a central weld part, having a weld strength retention (w) (as defined by formula IV) of 10% or above, and satisfying the relationships of formulas V and VI [wherein b is the rate (%) of the above PPS resin, and g is the rate (%) of the filler based on the total composition].

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition having excellent heat-resistance, moldability and mechanical properties and useful as an engineering plastic having excellent dimensional accuracy and abrasion resistance by compounding a liquid crystal resin having a specific composition with graphite and an organic bromide at specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:This resin composition is produced by compounding (A) 100 pts.wt. of one or more kinds of liquid crystal resins selected from liquid crystal polyester and/or liquid crystal polyester amide capable of forming anisotropic molten phase [preferably a resin composed of the constituent units of formula I, formula II (R1 is one or more kinds of groups selected from the groups of formula III, formula IV, etc.), formula V and formula VI (R2 is one or more kinds of groups selected from the groups of formula III, formula VII, etc.; X is H or C1) provided that the amount of the unit of formula VI is essentially equimolar to the sum of the units of formula II and formula V] with (B) 1200 pts.wt. of graphite having a fixed carbon content of >=90% (preferably >=98% and a crystallinity of 80-95%) and an average particle diameter of 1-20mum and (C) 0.5-60 pts.wt. of brominated polystyrene having a weight- average molecular weight of 1X10 to 120X10 and preferably containing one or more kinds of units of formula VIII, etc., as main constituent components.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, excellent in thin-wall moldability, mechanical characteristics, heat resistance and dimensional accuracy, especially improved in plane impact strength and sliding properties and suitable as bearing members, etc., by blending a specific liquid crystal polyester with pith-based carbon fiber. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. liquid crystal polyester composed of units expressed by formula I and the formulas (O-R1-O) and (OC-R2-CO) or further (O-CH2CH2-O) (R1 is formula II, III, etc.; R2 is formula II, IV, etc.) in which the sum total of the units expressed by the formulas (O-R1-O) and (O-CH2CH2-O) is equimolar with the unit expressed by the formula (OC-R2-CO) with (B) 1-200 pts.wt. pitch-based carbon fiber having 3-18mum average fiber diameter and 1-10 mum average fiber length. Furthermore, the component (A) is obtained by subjecting, e.g. p-acetoxybenzoic acid and a diacyl compound of an aromatic dihydroxy compound such as 4,4'- diacetoxybiphenyl and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid such as terephthalic acid to the deacetylating polycondensation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition excellent in and well-balanced among mechanical properties, heat resistance, moldability into a thin-wall product, dimensional accuracy and slidability by mixing a polyester which forms an anisotropic molten phase with a specified scaly or flaky graphite. CONSTITUTION:The composition is prepared by kneading 100 pts.wt. liquid crystal polyester comprising structural units of formulas I, II and IV or of formulas I, II, III and IV and forming an anisotropic molten phase with 1-100 pts.wt. scaly graphite and/or flaky graphite each having a fixed carbon atom content of 95%, a mean particle diameter of 1-10mum, a specific surface area of 5-15m /g and a lamella spacing of crystal of 350Angstrom or above. In the formulas, R1 is a group of formula V or VI or the like; R2 is a group of formula VII or VIII or the like; X is II or Cl; and the amount of structural units of formulas II and III is equimolar to that of structural units of formula IV.

CONSTITUTION:The objective composition having 12-300 Pa sec is obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. liquid crystal resin selected from a liquid crystal polyester and/or a liquid crystal polyesteramide capable of forming an anisotropic melting phase with (B) 5-300 pts.wt. potassium whisker having pH 6-8 (preferably 6-potassium titanate whisker). As the component A, a liquid crystal polyester copolymer, etc., having P-hydroxybenzoic acid unit, an unit introduced from an aromatic dihydroxy compound such as 4,4'- dihydroxybiphenyl, an unit introduced from aromatic dicarboxylic acid such as terephthalic acid or an unit introduced from ethylene glycol is preferably used.
