Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled separation membrane having sharp fractional characteristics with less deterioration of performance when dried by adding one of an acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer, cellulose acetate, and a methyl methacrylate polymer to an acrylonitrile polymer. CONSTITUTION:One or more kind among an acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer, cellulose acetate, and a methyl methacrylate polymer is mixed into an acrylonitrile polymer as an additive, and the mixture is dissolved into a solvent to obtain a membrane forming original liquid which is formed into a flat or a hollow membrane in a dry and wet process or in a dry process. The membrane obtained by solidification is used without being drawn.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a better performance membrane as a selective permeable membrane easily from a block polyether-urethane copolymer composed of polyurethane and polyethylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:The block polyether-urethane copolymer is prepared from ethylene glycol, a polyurethane whose main component is 4,4'-diphenylmethanediisocyanate, and polyethylene glycol, and then the copolymer thus obtained is made into the membrane which can be used as the selective permeable membrane for the dialysis of blood, etc. Thus, the membrane having excellent selective perviousness can be easily manufactured by a simplified process.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a membrane separation apparatus without lowering liquid permeability practically and carry out membrane separation at high efficiency by using a hydrophilic.hydrophobic separation unit membrane having hydrophilic parts and hydrophobic parts and lowering gas adhesion to membrane surface. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic.hydrophobic separation unit membrane 1 is composed of hydrophilic parts 6 and hydrophobic parts 5. The ratio of hydrophilic part 6 to the hydrophobic parts 5 in the membrane 1 is preferably 1-9% as membrane surface area from a viewpoint of degassing efficiency. Also, the base materials for the parts 5, 6 (e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene) of the membrane 1 are preferably the same material each other. Further, a hollow yarn membrane is preferable from a viewpoint of size of the apparatus and cost. By using the membrane 1, gas adhesion to the membrane surface is lowered and a membrane separation apparatus without lowering liquid permeability practically is obtained and membrane separation can be carried out at high efficiency.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having quick response when used as a reactive element by producing a water-containing fiber by the conjugate spinning of a water-base stock liquid of a PVA polymer and a stock liquid of another water-soluble polymer and subjecting the resultant water-containing fiber to freezing treatment, thawing treatment and removal of the water-soluble polymer. CONSTITUTION:A water-containing fiber produced by the conjugate spinning of a water-base stock liquid of a PVA polymer (preferably containing >=97% of vinyl alcohol unit and having a polymerization degree of >=3,000) and a stock liquid of another water-soluble polymer is subjected to the freezing treatment, the thawing treatment and the removal of the water-soluble polymer to obtain the objective fiber.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable excellent cushioning performance to be secured even at the time of rupturing of a tyre in the tyre whose annular hollow portion formed with a rubber tyre and a rim is charged with an elastic support member which supports the rubber tyre by using hollow fiber for the elastic support member. CONSTITUTION:In a tyre with a rubber tyre 3 installed in the rim 4 of a wheel, an annular hollow portion 5 which is formed with the rubber tyre 3 and the rim 4 is charged with cut fiber hollow fiber 6 as an elastic support member. For example, polyethylene terephthalate system fiber whose diameter D is 1mm and bore is 0.5mm is used for this hollow fiber 6, and it is cut so that the length L is 100mm, namely, the ratio of L/D becomes 100. The annular hollow portion 5 is charged with the hollow fiber 6 by the method of oscillation, the method of decompression or the method of both combination, and its bulk density is set to be, for example, 0.05g/cm .

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title element having high mechanical strength, usable in an arbitrary shape and large in change quantity, by combining a precursor of a swellable and shrinkable polymer gel with a microporous body to perform reaction. CONSTITUTION:A precursor of a swellable and shrinkable polymer gel functioning reversibly by the change of environment such as temp. or a solvent composition and a microporous body having micropores are combined and reacted to bear the role of both of or either one of reinforcing effect and shape imparting. In said combination, both of them are brought to surface contact or either one of them is wrapped in the other. The reaction is performed in order to change the precursor of the swellable and shrinkable polymer gel to a swellable and shrinkable polymer gel and there is polymerization, crosslinking or a combination of both of them. By this method, the title responsive element having high mechanical strength, usable in an arbitrary shape such as a sheet like shape, a fibrous shape, a hollow fiber like shape or a combination thereof, keeping change quantity at the time of the polymer gel alone and applicable to a wide field is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a porous polyethylene cation-exchange membrane, which is excellent in cation-exchange ability and useful for water treatment, metal recovery and other purposes, in a high operation efficiency, by treating a porous polyethylene membrane with conc. sulfuric acid and a formaldehyde source. CONSTITUTION:A porous polyethylene cation-exchange membrane is prepared by treating a porous polyethylene membrane in the form of a plain or hollow- thread membrane with conc. sulfuric acid and a formaldehyde source (e.g., formalin, paraformaldehyde, etc.) to introduce sulfonic acid groups into the porous membrane. This treatment makes it possible to introduces sulfonic acid groups thoroughly entirely over the surface of the membrane and the surface of its porous parts in a high rate of reaction and thereby provide the membrane with an excellent cation-exchange ability. In the course of the treatment, some of the main chains of polyethylene are mutually crosslinked, whereby the membrane can be controlled from contraction, its shape retentivity can be improved, and its transmission capacity can be controlled freely by controlling the degree of crosslinking.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled carbon membrane having the most excellent resistance to heat and chemicals and excellent separation effect, mechanical strength, and shape stability by combining a porous layer having separative power with a layer having voids whose maximum pore diameter is regulated to a value higher than the specified value and used for controlling permeatioi velocity. CONSTITUTION:A void-structure membrane is obtained by quickening the solidification velocity of a polyacrylonitrile polymer with a wet membrane forming process. The membrane is made resistant to flames without being drawn in an acidic atmosphere, and then carbonized at high temps. in an inert atmosphere. The obtained carbon membrane is composed of dense layers 1 and 2 having separative power and a porous layer 3 having voids whose maximum pore diameter is regulated to >=5mu and used for controlling permeation velocity.
