    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title monofilament useful for fishing lines, etc., having excellent toughness, impact resistance and transparency by sticking an expanding agent to the surface of polyvinylidene fluoride having high birefringence and heat-treating in an inert gas. CONSTITUTION:For example, in production of high-knot strength polyvinylidene fluoride having >=1.0 intrinsic viscosity index measured in 0.4g/cc DMF solution, an expanding agent such as acetone is stuck to the surface of polyvinylidene fluoride having >=25X10 birefringence, the polyvinylidene fluoride is heat- treated in an inert gas such as air under a condition of temperature (T deg.C) of the inert gas, diameter (Dmm)of monofilament and treating time (tau time) satisfying 68D/(T-25) =T>=200 to give the objective monofilament.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject monofilament having high strength and elongation and useful as fishing line, fishing net, laver net, reinforcing material for rubber belt, fence material, etc., by introducing a melt-spun monofilament into a drawing zone and drawing in a low-temperature plasma atmosphere under application of a specific tension. CONSTITUTION:The objective monofilament has a fineness of >=30D and satisfies the relationships n>=35X10 ( n is birefringence), -6X10 (delta ns-c is difference of the birefringence at the surface layer of the monofilament ns and the birefringence at the core part nc), TT>=8.6-0.45.lnD (D is fineness of the monofilament and TT is tensile strength) and KT>=0.8+4.Exp(-D/10000) (KT is knot strength of the monofilament). It can be produced by introducing a melt-spun monofilament into a drawing zone and drawing in a low-temperature plasma atmosphere under application of a tension of 0.5-7.0g/d.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber on an industrial scale at a low cost by introducing a polyethylene solution from a spinning nozzle through an inert gas layer into a spinning bath while controlling the traveling distance of the fiber in said gas layer and a spinning draft to satisfy a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:A polyethylene having a weight-average molecular weight of >=700,000 (preferably >=1,500,000) is dissolved in a solvent such as decalin at a temperature selected to give a viscosity of 1,000-10,000 poise and the polyethylene solution is extruded from a spinning nozzle through an inert gas layer (air or nitrogen gas layer) into a spinning bath. In the above process, the fiber is transferred under a condition to satisfy the formulas I, II and III [L is traveling distance (cm) of the fiber-formed solution through the inert gas layer; D is spinning draft]. The fiber introduced into the bath is cooled, extracted, taken up with a take-up roller, dried and hot-drawn to obtain the objective high tenacity fiber.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber of high strength and high modulus, low in creep, by spinning a solution of polyethylene with a specified molecular weight which has been made by blending two kinds of polyethylene differing in molecular weight from each other followed by hot drawing of the resultant undrawn yarn. CONSTITUTION:A solution of polyethylene with a weight-average molecular weight of 700,000 to 4,000,000 which has been prepared by blending 5-50wt.% of polyethylene having a weight-average molecular weight of >=5,000,000 with a second polyethylene having a weight-average molecular weight of >=600,000 (pref. >=1,500,000) is spun followed by hot drawing of the resultant undrawn yarn pref. at 100-160 deg.C by a factor of >=25, thus obtaining the objective fiber.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress effectively the gluing between fibers and obtain the titled fibers for ropes, etc., by passing a solution of a polyolefin having a specific weight-average molecular weight through an inert gas atmosphere, extruding the resultant solution into a coagulation bath, removing a solvent from the spun filaments, and hot-drawing the resultant filaments under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A solution containing 0.5-15wt% polyolefin based polymer, e.g. high-density polyethylene, having >=5X10 weight-average molecular weight is passed through an inert gas atmosphere layer and extruded into a coagulation bath to give coagulated filaments, and a solvent is then extracted and removed therefrom to give filaments. The resultant filaments are then hot-drawn at a temperature of the melting point of the polyolefin based polymer -70 deg.C lower than the melting point at >=10 times draw ratio to afford the aimed fibers. Decalin, etc. is preferred for the solvent to be used for preparing the spinning solution.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-modulus acrylic fiber useful as an industrial fiber such as for cement reinforcement, by dry/wet spinning of a high-degree of polymerization acrylic polymer followed by drawing the undrawn fiber under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic polymer 1.8-4.0 (pref. 2.7-3.4) in intrinsic viscosity is subjected to dry/wet spinning and primary drawing by a factor of 2.5-6 in a hot water bath and then secondary drawing in a heating steam at 160-180 deg.C effecting the overall draw ratio of 220 (pref. 26-35). By this method, there occurs the fiber deformation by the secondary drawing smoothly, thus stably obtaining the aimed high-strength, high-modulus acrylic fiber.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a conjugate fiber for industrial use having excellent heat- resistance, chemical resistance, durability and mechanical properties and high peeling resistance between the inner layer polymer component and the outer layer polymer component. CONSTITUTION:The conjugate fiber has an innermost layer made of a polyethylene terephthalate (PET), an outermost layer made of a polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and an intermediate layer made of a blend of PET and PPS. The amounts of the innermost layer and the outermost layer are >=20wt.% and >=10wt.% based on the total fiber, respectively. A blend of PET and PPS at a ratio of 30:70 to 70:30 in the intermediate layer accounts for 5-50wt.% of the total fiber.
