Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve the reduction of low voltage breakdown frequency and the enhancement of self-healing properties and humidity resistance by setting the sum thickness of surface layers each composed of a polyester film to a specific % range with respect to the thickness of a center layer made of a biaxially oriented film made of poly-p-phenylene sulfide represented by a specific structural formula. CONSTITUTION:A polyphenylene sulfide laminated film is obtained by laminating surface layers (A-layers) each composed of a polyester film on both surfaces of a center layer (B-layer) composed of a biaxially oriented film of poly-p- phenylene sulfide wherein 70mol% or more of a repeating unit is represented by formula I. The sum thickness of the A-layers is set to 30-50% of the thickness of the B-layer and the intrinsic viscosity of polyester is set to 0.62 or more. This polyphenylene sulfide laminated film is reduced in low voltage breakdown frequency and improved in self-healing properties and humidity resistance at the time of the application of voltage and a condenser constant in capacity over a side temp. range and enhanced in reliability can be produced using said film.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain film excellent in smoothness and uniformity of thickness, by a method wherein the title polymer having a specific melt viscosity is melted, extruded on a cooling medium at a specific temperature in the form of film, stretched uniaxially under special conditions and then stretched in the orthogonal direction and fixed thermally. CONSTITUTION:The titled polymer wherein the content of constitutional unit of the formula is at least 90mol% and the melt viscosity at 300 deg.C is 100-600,000 poise under a shear rate 200/sec is melted and extruded on a cooling medium having a surface temperature 120 deg.C or less in the form of film. The film obtained by such a method having a density 1,320-1,330 is stretched 3-4.7 times at 85-100 deg.C in a uniaxial direction, then 2.7-4.5 times at 87-110 deg.C in the direction at right angles to the uniaxial stretching direction and then fixed thermally at 200-275 deg.C.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a useful film for packing material or the like excellent in heat resistance, mechanical strength and the like, by carrying out biaxial orientation and heat setting under a specified condition employing a highly polymerized poly-p- phenylene sulfide having a p-phenylene sulfide skeleton. CONSTITUTION:A poly-p-phenylene sulfide containing at least 90mol% of a component as shown by the formula is produced by the method of reacting a dihalide with an alkali sulfide in a polar solvent at a high temperature, or the like. An amorphous film composed of the poly-p-phenylene sulfide is stretched in one direction within the range of 80-120 deg.C two-to five-fold at the first stage, until the index of birefringence of the film falls in the range of 0.05-0.3. Then, it is further stretched in the direction at a right angle to the stretching at the first stage 1.5-to 5-fold within the range of 80-150 deg.C. Finally, it is heat-set under the tension at a temperature from 180 deg.C to the melting point.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve dimensional stability, particularly, heat-contraction characteristics, by subjecting poly-p-phenylene sulfide two-axis-extended film to stretch heat treatment and thereby thermosetting it, and further by heat treating it under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:Two-axis-extended film substantially made of poly-p-phenylene sulfide is heat treated under stretching, at 150-280 deg.C, preferably, at 250-280 deg.C, for 1-120 seconds, and thereby it is sufficiently thermoset. Next, the resultant substance is heat treated under the restriction for contraction or expansion within 20% in both lengthwise and crosswise directions, preferably within 10%, or at a fixed length, at a temperature below the preceding heat treatment temperature but above 50 deg.C, preferably, above 80 deg.C, for 1-10 seconds, and thereby the desired film is obtained. USE:Suitable for use for magnetic tape, optical image recording base, print circuit base, etc.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a metallized film capacitor having defective ratio of breakdown voltage of the capacitor by specifying surface roughness and thickness of a biaxially oriented film substantially made of poly-p- phenylenesulfide. SOLUTION: Surface roughness SRmax of a biaxially oriented film substantially made of poly-p-phenylenesulfide(PPS) is a range of 1000 to 15000 nm. If the PPS film having a surface roughness SRmax or 1000 nm or more is used, repair by voltage treatment can be effectively executed. If the PPS film having a surface roughness SRmax of 15000 nm is used, a gap between film layers when the film is wound or wound by many layers or laminated can be increased to increase unevenness of electrostatic capacity of a capacitor. And, the PPS film having a thickness of 10 μm or less is an object and the PPS film having a thickness of 6 μm is an object.

SOLUTION: This film has a mean surface roughness (Ra) of 0.005-0.03μm, a coefficient of heat contraction of 0-4% at 220 deg.C in the longitudinal direction, and a coefficient of heat contraction of -1-1% in the breadth direction. In addition, it is restricted to be 80% in the area of a film sagged portion generated at the application of a tensile force of 0.6kg/mm to the film.
