Abstract: PURPOSE: A subcutaneous fat thickness measuring apparatus is provided to accurately measure the subcutaneous fat thickness by measuring the subcutaneous thickness and the skin thickness together. CONSTITUTION: A near infrared ray irradiation unit(101) irradiates the near infrared ray to the surface of an object. The near infrared ray irradiation unit controls the incident angle toward the surface of the near infrared ray. A measuring unit(102) senses the near infrared ray coming back from an object. A controller(104) analyzes the near infrared ray signal received from the measuring unit. The controller produces the skin thickness value and the subcutaneous thickness value of an object by using the near infrared ray signal. The controller produces a correction value about the subcutaneous thickness value by using the skin thickness value. The controller calculates the subcutaneous thickness value when the incident angle is 80 degrees or 90 degrees. The controller calculates the skin thickness value when the incident angle is 10 degrees or 80 degrees.

Abstract: A pressure sensor using two capacitors for measuring a pressure stimulus includes a substrate having a diaphragm positioned at a center portion thereof. The diaphragm has a reduced thickness so that the diaphragm displaces upward and downward in response to a pressure stimulus. A first capacitor is provided on the diaphragm and at least a second capacitor is provided on a bulk portion of the substrate so as to be adjacent to the first capacitor. The first and the second capacitor are connected to each other in series, wherein capacitance differs between the first and the second capacitor when the diaphragm moves up and down in response to the pressure stimulus.
