    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled material composed of an aqueous solution of a poly[N-(dimethoxyethyl)-N-methylacrylamide], reversibly taking a water-soluble state at low temperature and water-insoluble state at high temperature and useful as a light-shielding material, temperature sensor, heat-sensitive switch, toy, adsorptive separation material, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective material is composed essentially of an aqueous solution of poly(N-(2,2-dimethoxyethyl)-N-methylacrylamide)(preferably having an intrinsic viscosity [eta] of 0.01-6.0 in methanol solution at 30 deg.C). The concentration of the aqueous solution is preferably >=0.01%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance durability and stability by preparing a hydrophilic separating membrane comprising graft polymerization of hydrophilic monomer over the surface of porous high-molecular membrane base, passing the mixed solution of water and alcohol through the said membrane and permeating water preferentially. CONSTITUTION:The graft polymerization is carried out by adding hydrophilic monomer such as acrylamide water solution, after plasma treatment, on the surface of porous high-molecular membrane such as porous polypropylene. The membrane thus prepared is washed with distilled water repeatedly to remove the unreacted monomer, homopolymer, etc., and a hydrophilic membrane is produced. The water-ethanol mixed solution is passed through the hydrophilic separating membrane thus produced, and water is permeated preferentially. Pervaporation is suitable for carrying out the said separation. Process of separation, durable and stabilized, is thus achieved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled thermoreversible polymer which is soluble in water at low temperatures while insoluble in water at high temperatures and is suitable for temperature sensors, light-screening bodies, etc., by radical- polymerizing N-ethoxyethyl(meth)acrylamide. CONSTITUTION:The purpose thermoreversibly hydrophilic acid hydrophobic polymer of formula II (wherein n>=2) is obtained by radical-polymerizing N- ethoxyethyl(meth)acrylamide of formula I (wherein R1 is H or methyl). As a process for polymerizing this compound, a solution polymerization process is usually preferable, and one comprising dissolving the compound of formula I in a solvent (e.g., benzene) and irradiating the solution with a radiation or heating it in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator can be adopted, for example. The compound of formula I can be produced by, for example, reacting (meth)acryloyl chloride with 2-ethoxyethylamine and triethylamine in benzene.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To restrict a side reaction with the solvent in order to stabilize a cell, and to make it possible to improve the output density, by using a conductive high polymer including triphenylamin structure units for a positive electrode, a conductive high polymer including quinoline structure units for a negative electrode, and a nitril solvent for a solvent. CONSTITUTION:A nitril-type solvent is used as a solvent, a conductive high polymer including triphenolamin structure unit, whose doped condition in the nitril-type solvent is stable, is used as a positive electrode, and a conductive high polymer including quinoline structure units, whose doped condition in the solvent is also stable, is used as a negative electrode. In such a composition, since a side reaction with the solvent is restricted, and the cell is stabilized without generating a gas and the like, the cell can be made maintenance-free. Furthermore, a high polymer cell whose output density is larger compared with a lithium negative electrode and the like can be produced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer useful as a display material developing green color and having excellent memory effect, by electrolytic polymerization of a thiophene compound having a specific structural formula. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer consisting of the recurring unit of formula can be produced by the electrolytic polymerization of a compound of formula I [R is 1,3-phenylene, p,p'-diphenylene or (substituted)1,3-phenylene] [e.g. 1,3-di(2- thienyl)-benzene]. The polymerization is carried out generally in a polar solvent such as acetonitrile in an inert atmosphere in the presence of a supporting electrolyte (e.g. tetrafluoroboric acid tetramethyl ammonium salt). The polymer is obtained in a state doped with the anion of the supporting electrolyte.

The formed precipitates are separated by filtration, extraction, etc., to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.

The polymer liquid layer 2 is the liquid layer consisting of the soln. contg. the N-substd. acrylamide polymer, for which; for example, the polymers obtainable from monomers such as N-isopropylacrylamide or N-isopropyl methacrylamide or the copolymers thereof or the copolymers essentially consisting thereof, etc., are adequate. Polyvinyl pyrolidone, PE glycol, etc., are adequate as the high-polymer dispersion stabilizer to be used.
