Abstract: Aqueous dispersions containing a polyurethane and from 5 to 60% by weight, based on the polyurethane, of an adhesion-improving polymer, the polyurethane consisting essentially of (a) organic diisocyanates, (b) dihydroxy compounds which have a molecular weight of from more than 500 to 5,000 g/mol and contain no ionic groups or groups convertible into ionic groups, (c) compounds having one or two functional groups reactive toward isocyanate and at least one ionic group or group convertible into an ionic group and (d) compounds having at last 3 isocyante groups or at least 3 functional groups reactive toward isocyanate, (e) optionally compounds which differ from (c) and have two functional groups reactive toward isocyanate and a molecular weight of from 60 to 500 g/mol, the compounds (d) being used in amounts such that the functionality F of all components is from 2.01 to 2.5, and the polyurethane or a prepolymer thereof is prepared in a water-miscible solvent boiling below 100 DEG C. and, after addition of the adhesion-improving polymer, is dispersed in water.

Abstract: Synthetic resins are obtainable by chemically bonding one or more compounds of the general formula I (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) (I) where R1 is -OH, -NH2, (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) -NHR3 or (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) R2 is -H, -CH3 or -C2H5, R3 is -CmH2m+1, where m is from 1 to 6, R4 is -H or -CH3 and n is from 1 to 12, via the oxygen or nitrogen atom of R1 to one or more polymers A which consist of a) from 50 to 100% by weight of one or more esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid with monohydric alcohols of 1 to 18 carbon atoms or a mixture of these esters (monomers a) and b) from 0 to 50% by weight of other copolymerizable monomers (monomers b) in polymerized form, in amounts such that the synthetic resin contains from 0.01 to 1 mole of double bonds per kg of polymer A. After exposure to ultraviolet light or to electrons, these synthetic resins are suitable as contact adhesives.

Abstract: Storage-stable aq. polymer dispersions are claimed, which are obtd. by dispersing a mixt. of: (a) 15-50 (wt.) copolymer (A) of 1.5-15% 3-10C comonomer (I) contg. a carboxylic acid or anhydride gp., 30-98.5% 1-20C alkyl (meth)acrylate (II), 0-60% vinyl-aromatics (III), 0-20% copolymerisable carbonyl cpds. (IV) and 0-20% other organic comonomers (V) and (b) 50-85% copolymer (B) of 40-100% (II) and 0-60% (III), (IV) and/or (V), in water, with addn. of NH3 and a polyhydrazide (C). (A) and (B) together contain up to 65% units of (II), which forms a homopolymer with Tg below 0 deg.C and (A) and/or (B) contains (IV) units. The claims also cover the prodn. of the dispersions. A soln. of a mixt. of (A) and (B) in an organic solvent is prepd. by prepg. one copolymer in the soln. obtd. by polymerisation of the other, then the mixt. is dispersed in water, with addn. of NH3, excess solvent is distilled off if necessary and then (C) is added, pref. in an amt. of 0.1-1 equiv. (C)/equiv. carbonyl gps. in the (A+B) mixt.

Abstract: Radiation-curable contact adhesives (I) contain (A) 10-98 wt. % oligomeric or polymeric reaction prod. with mol. wt. 500-100,000 and (B) 2-99 wt. % mono-vinyl cpd. (A) is the reaction prod. of (a) di-isocyanate, (b) 20-99 equiv. % polyester-polyol and/or polyether-polyol (c) 0-79 equiv. % 2-50C diol, (d) an OH gp. which is not directly linked with (II) and (e) a cpd. with an OH or amino gp. namely up to 20C acetal or ketal and/or a cycloaliphatic ether with a 3- or 10-membered ring, amt. of (d+e) is 1-50 equiv. % w.r.t. NCO gps. in (a), equiv. ratio (d):(e) = (10:90)-(90:10), and NCO gps. in (a) are equiv. to the sum of the OH and amino gps. in (b), (c), (d) and (e).
