Abstract: A graft copolymer A is constituted by (A1) 1 to 90 % by weight, with respect to A, of a particulate graft copolymer A1 having a glass transition temperature below 0 DEG C and an average particle size below 40 nm; and (A2) 10 to 99 % by weight, with respect to A, of a graft coating A2 made of olefinically unsaturated monomers that form soft or hard polymers. The average particle size of the graft copolymer A as a whole is lower than 50 nm. Also disclosed is a moulding material containing this graft copolymer.

Abstract: Emulsifier-free aqueous polyurethane dispersions are prepared by reacting (a) dihydroxy compounds, (b) diisocyanates and (c) chain extenders to give a prepolymer having terminal isocyanate groups, then reacting the prepolymer with (d) salts of aliphatic aminocarboxylic or -sulfonic acids or amino-containing or hydroxyl-containing tertiary ammonium salts, dispersing the resulting polyurethane in water and, if required, removing the organic solvent by distillation. In the process, an organic condensation resin which is dissolved in a solvent is admixed before the polyurethane obtained is dispersed in water.

(I) are soluble and their substits. can have definite orientation, making them of particular interest in the optical and optoelectronics fields. They are suitable for incorporation in high mol. systems with definite structure.

Abstract: A thermoplastic polyester molding composition (I) comprises (A) 80-100 wt.% of a polyalkylene arylate having a crystallization exotherm width at half height of no more than 5 deg C and (B) 0-20 wt.% further additives. Independent claims are included for (i) optical fiber sheathing and cable sheathing prepared from (I) and (ii) a process for the production of (I) by (a) esterification and/or ester exchange of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, ester and/or ester forming derivative with a molar excess of a dihydroxy compound; (b) precondensing the resulting product followed by (c) polycondensation to a viscosity number of 158 ml/g whereby (a) and (b) are carried out in at least 2 temperature zones and optionally adding (B) before cooling of the melt before or after step (c).

Abstract: Partly aromatic, partly crystalline, thermoplastic polyamide moulding material (I) contain (A) 40-100 wt.% of a copolyamide contg. Also claimed are moulded prods. obtd. from (I). Copolyamide (A) comprises 32-40 mole% (a1), 10-18 mole% (a2); 46-48.5 mole% (a3) and 1.5-4 mole% (a4). Pref., (A) has a triamine content of less than 0.5 wt.% and a degree of crystallinity of more than 30%. Pref. diamine (a4) is bis-(4-aminocyclohexyl)-methane (BACM) or bis-(4-amino-4-methylcyclohexyl)-methane.

Also claimed are: (1) an aq. hair-setting compsn. contg. a polymer as above as film former; (2) a polyamide as above where components (a)-(c) are present in amts. of 30-94.8, 2.6-37, 2.6-7 and 0-30 mole % resp.; and (3) aq. dispersions contg. 1-70 wt.% of a polyamide as in (2).
