    Abstract: The invention concerns polyacetal-block-containing polymers obtained by polymerizing, in the presence of initiators, carboxylic acid esters containing aldehyde groups and by reacting the polymers with at least bifunctional cross-linking agents, in the presence of acids or Lewis acids and optionally hydrolysing the ester groups thus incorporated in the polymer. The invention also concerns a method of producing polymers containing polyacetal blocks by polymerizing carboxylic acid esters containing aldehyde groups in the presence of initiators and reacting the polyacetals containing terminal hydroxy groups thus obtained with at least bifunctional cross-linking agents, in the presence of acids or Lewis acids, plus the use of the polymers thus obtained as additives in phosphate-free and phosphate-reduced washing and cleaning agents, as scale inhibitors and as dispersants for pigments.

    Abstract: Graft polymers obtd. by grafting (a) a polyalkylene oxide with Mn 300-100,000, based on ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide, and capped at at least one end, with (b) a vinyl ester of a satd. 1-6C monocarboxylic acid and/or a (m)ethyl (meth)acrylate, in ratio by wt. of (a):(b) of 1:0.2-10, and where the grafted monomer (b) may be up to 15 mols.% hydrolysed are used to inhibit greying in washing or after-treatment of textiles contg. synthetic fibres. The graft polymer is prepd. from (a) a polyalkylene oxide, capped at at least 1 end, with Mn 1,000-50,000 and 40-100 mols.% ethylene oxide, and (b) vinyl acetate, in ratio by wt. of (a):(b) of 1:0.5-6. The graft polymer has K value 5-200 (2% in DMF at 25 deg.C).

    Abstract: Esters are disclosed of citric acid or acetylcitric acid anhydride with compounds containing at least 3 OH groups selected in the group formed by polyglycerine, sucrocarboxylic acids, alkylglucosides, derivates of oligosaccharides, aminosorbit, aminodisorbit, glucosamine, triethanolamine and trishydroxyethyl-melamine, in which each OH group of the ester alcohol components is esterified in average with 0.15 to 1 molecule citric acid or acetylcitric acid anhydride. Also disclosed is the use of these citric acid esters as additives to phosphate-poor or phosphate-free washing and cleaning products.

    Abstract: Copolymer contains (a) at least 12 wt. % of a mono-or poly-unsatd. carboxylic acid anhydride and (b) a ketone deriv. radically polymerising by ring opening. Pref. (a) the components are anhydrides of mono- or di-carboxylic acids, esp. anhydrides of methacrylic, maleic and/or itaconic acids. Claimed ketene derivs. are 2-methylenedioxepan-1, 3;2-methylene-dioxolan-1, 3;, N-R1-2-methylene-1, 3-hexahydrooxazepin, N-R1-2-methylene-oxazolidin-1,3-2-methyleneoxathiepan-1,3 or 2-methyleneoxathiolan-1, 3. The copolymer contains (a) 97.5-25% of an anhydride of a monoethylenically unsatd. mono or di-carboxylic acid, (b) 2.5-75% of the ketene deriv. and (c) 0-20% of another, copolymerisable, monomer and has K value of 8-100 as the water-sol. salts. USE - Copolymers are used, as water-sol. salts as dispersants and as soil-dispersants in washing compsns. (claimed). They are also used as supports for active materials, forming bio-erodible, slow-acting systems. The washing and cleaning compsn. are esp. low-phosphate or phosphate-free (pref).
