    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing polyisobutenes by polymerizing isobutene in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst in liquid organic phase, terminating the reaction by admixing the organic phase with an aqueous terminator in a dynamic mixer which has a rotationally symmetric mixing chamber formed from one circumferential wall and two end walls, and a mixing rotor driven such that it rotates therein, the organic phase being introduced through a first inlet orifice provided in the circumferential wall and the aqueous terminator via a second inlet orifice provided in the circumferential wall, and removing a finely dispersed mixture of the organic phase and of the terminator through an outlet orifice provided in the circumferential wall and feeding it to a phase separation. The process serves to prepare high-reactivity polyisobutenes and/or polyisobutenes with narrow molecular weight distribution.

    Abstract: A polyisobutene composition having a global maximum of the differential molecular weight distribution curve at a molecular weight M max of from 3 500 to 8 000 is described, which comprises at least one local maximum at a molecular weight of from 112 to 560. The isobutene oligomers present act as flow improvers and boiling assistants. They are added to higher molecular weight isobutene polymers, preferably before or in the course of a distillation, for removing unconverted isobutene and/or an inert diluent.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a catalyst complex comprising boron trifluoride and a co-catalyst mixture of 10 to 90 wt% of a monovalent primary C1 to C20 alcohol and 90 to 10 wt% of a monovalent secondary C3 to C20 alcohol, wherein the molar ratio of boron trifluoride to the sum of all alcohols is 2:1 to 1:10.
