Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a toner carrier capable of forming a high-quality image where a black horizontal line or a white horizontal line is not caused, that is, which has no irregularity by incorporating a crosslinked resin on the surface of a conductive elastic layer and forming a surface layer whose solvent insolubility rate to a specified resin component is equal to or above a specified value. SOLUTION: As for this toner carrier 1, the surface layer 4 principally incorporating a crosslinked resin is provided on the surface of the conductive elastic layer 3 in order to control electrifying property and adhesive property for toner or in order to prevent the decrease of frictional force between a photoreceptor and a laminated blade and the soiling of the photoreceptor by an elastic body. The solvent insolubility rate of the resin component of the surface layer 4, which is expressed by solvent insolubility rate (%)=(B/A)×100, in >=70%, provided that A shows the weight of the resin component in the surface layer 4 before it is immersed in the solvent and B shows the weight of the resin component in the surface layer 4 after it is immersed in good solvent for 24 hours at 25 deg.C to the resin component before cross-linking treatment.

SOLUTION: The objective rubber composition is produced by polymerizing a conjugated diene monomer (preferably 1,3-butadiene or isoprene) or a conjugated diene monomer and a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomer (preferably styrene) in the presence of an organic lithium-based initiator (e.g. n-butyllinium), modifying the polymerization activity terminal of the obtained (co)polymer with a modifying agent reactive with silica surface and expressed by the formula (R is a substituent having epoxy or an unsaturated carbonyl group; X is an alkyl or a halogen; R is a 1-20C aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon group; (m) and (n) are each 1-3; m+n is 2-4) (preferably γ-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane) and finally mixing the obtained terminal-modified (co)polymer with a silica (preferably silica prepared by wet-process) in an organic solvent.

CONSTITUTION:The objective initiator comprises a mixture of a lithioamine of the formula (A)Li(SOL)y [y is 0 or 0.5-3; SOL is soluble component selected from hydrocarbon, ethers, etc. ; A is (di)alkyl or (di)cycloalkylamine group of formula I (R1 is 1-12C alkyl, cycloalkyl, etc.) or cyclic amine group of formula II (R2 is 3-12 methylene-containing bifunctional alkylene, oxyalkylene, etc.), an organic alkali metal compound and optionally a chelating agent. The lithioamine is preferably obtained by reacting a functioning agent composed of an amine containing a group of formula I or formula II with an organolithium compound of the formula RLi (R is 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl, etc.) in the presence of a SOL such as hexane.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain polyaniline controlled in the formation of by-products otherwise produced during the course of production, especially, the formation of benzidine condidered to be harmful, by electrolytically polymerizing aniline while controlling the polymerization solution to a specifiec temperature or below. CONSTITUTION:In the production of polyaniline by electrolytically polymerizing aniline, said polymerization is performed while the temperature of the electrolytic polymerization solution containing aniline is being controlled to 15 deg.C or below, If the temperature of the solution is above 15 deg.C, the benzidine concentration of the solution after electrolytic polymerization is markedly increased, so that care for safety and hygienics must be paid in handling the solution in, for example, waste liquor disposal. The lower limit of this temperature is the solidifying point of the solution. this solidifying point varies with chiefly its composition, so that it can not be specified unconditionally. For example, the solidifying point of an electrolytic polymerization solution having an aniline concenteration of 1mol/l and an acid (borofluoric acid) concentration of 2mol/l is about -10 deg.C.
