Abstract: A rocker arm assembly comprises a first arm, a second arm, and a latch assembly. The first arm comprises a main cam interface end, a body comprising a shaft port configured to pivot on a rocker shaft, and a valve end configured to lift and lower when the main cam interface end is acted on by a cam lobe. The second arm is overlaid on the first arm. The second arm comprises a secondary cam interface end, a latch lip end, and a shell connecting the latch lip end and the secondary cam interface end. The shell is configured to pivot relative to the first arm. The latch assembly is mounted to the body. The latch assembly is configured to selectively latch and unlatch the first arm with respect to the second arm.

Abstract: A rocker arm assembly constructed in accordance to one example of the present disclosure includes an outer rocker arm, a first inner rocker arm, and a second inner rocker arm. The first inner rocker arm is configured to move between a latched and unlatched position relative to the outer rocker arm. The second inner rocker arm is configured to move between a latched and unlatch position relative to the outer rocker arm. The rocker arm assembly provides at least three distinct lift profiles including (i) a first lift profile when the first inner rocker arm is latched and the second inner rocker arm is unlatched, (ii) a second lift profile when the second inner rocker arm is latched and the first inner rocker arm is unlatched, and (iii) a third lift profile when both the first and second inner rocker arms are unlatched.

Abstract: A transmission system selectively coupled to an engine crankshaft of an internal combustion engine arranged on a vehicle includes a transmission, an aftertreatment system, an accessory device and a controller. The aftertreatment system reduces emissions in an exhaust of the internal combustion engine. The accessory device is configured to provide power. The controller operates in an aftertreatment heat-up mode such that the aftertreatment system is heated up to an elevated temperature and emissions are thereby reduced based on the elevated temperature. The controller is configured to heat up the aftertreatment system to reach between one (1) and two (2) kilowatt hours (kWh) of enthalpy before two minutes at engine startup by (i) operating the internal combustion engine in cylinder deactivation mode (CDA); (ii) operating the internal combustion engine at an elevated idle speed; and (iii) operating the accessory device at a threshold power.

Abstract: A method of providing a rocker arm set for a valvetrain includes providing a first intake rocker arm, a second intake rocker arm and a first exhaust rocker arm. The first intake rocker arm is configured as a switching rocker arm for a first intake valve on a first cylinder. The second intake rocker arm is for a second intake valve on a second cylinder. The second rocker arm is configured to operate in a normal Otto cycle mode. The first exhaust rocker arm is provided for a first exhaust valve on the second cylinder. The first intake rocker arm operates in one of an LIVC or EIVC mode where the first intake rocker arm is configured to open or close at a different time compared to the second intake valve. The first exhaust rocker arm operates in a cylinder deactivation mode.

Abstract: A method for advancing valve actuation during low load or idle diesel engine conditions to promote aftertreatment heat up comprises switching a cam phaser from a nominal lift position to an advance lift position to open an affiliated valve before nominal. Valve lift is actuated via the cam phaser. The valve is lowered towards nominal closure, and valve closure is interrupted by actuating a latch phaser. Valve closure is extended beyond nominal valve closure.

Abstract: A method for controlling vehicle speed comprises selecting an engine speed profile for a vehicle. Road grade data is received and processed to determine a road grade for the vehicle. Vehicle speed data is received and processed to determine a vehicle speed for the vehicle. A cylinder deactivation mode for a valvetrain of a multi-cylinder engine of the vehicle is selected. The cylinder deactivation mode comprises deactivating one or more intake valve, exhaust valve, and fuel injection for one or more cylinder of the multi-cylinder engine. The selected cylinder deactivation mode provides a controlled deviation from the selected engine speed profile at the road grade and vehicle speed.
