Abstract:
In a wireless communication system including an access point and at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), a method for adaptive radio resource management begins by examining a frame error rate value of a WTRU. Then, a channel utilization value of the WTRU and a current data rate of the WTRU are examined. System parameters for the WTRU are adjusted based on the examined variables.
Abstract:
A controlling radio network controller (C-RNC) for use in radio resource management (RRM) functions includes a radio resource management function for managing radio resources. The RRM function uses data stored in a common database, including cell data and wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) data. The cell data includes resource assignment information for a cell, and the WTRU data includes WTRU capability and WTRU radio link information.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for managing common measurement gaps in multimedia broadcast multicast services (MBMS) cells are described. In one embodiment, a broadcast channel (BCH) common measurement gap is determined for use by a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) in an MBMS cell. The BCH common measurement gap is assigned to the WTRUs, and the BCH common measurement gap is transmitted to the WTRUs. In another embodiment, a paging channel (PCH) common measurement gap is determined for use by a plurality of WTRUs in an MBMS cell. The PCH common measurement gap is assigned to the WTRUs, and the PCH common measurement gap is transmitted to the WTRUs.
Abstract:
A wireless communication system including at least one IEEE 802 multi-stack wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) (110) and a plurality of technologically diversified access networks, such as IEEE 802.X networks and Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) networks, that are concurrently deployed. Both the multi-stack WTRU (110) and the technologically diversified networks include a media independent handover (MIH) function. The WTRU (110) is configured to read MIH information transmitted from one of the IEEE 802.X networks, trigger 3GPP authentication and authorization procedures based on the MIH information, obtain a local Internet Protocol (IP) address, establish a tunnel to a packet data gateway (PDG) in a 3GPP core network, construct a care of address (CoA) and register the CoA with a home agent (142) of the WTRU (110), whereby data destined for the WTRU (110) is routed via the home agent (142) through a new tunnel established between the home agent (142) and a foreign agent (136) based on the CoA.
Abstract:
A method for performing rate control for VoIP services using messages to enable the RRC to be aware of activity in the SIP/AMR level and to recommend an AMR rate change according to conditions in a wireless communication network. The messages allow VoIP services to dynamically adjust both rate and voice quality based on network conditions. A method for triggering RRC codec rate control using RRM conditions in the network. A method for coordinating AMR autonomous rate control and RRC commanded rate control using a guard mechanism between messages.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a method and system for multi-cell coordination for multimedia broadcast multicast services (MBMS) in a wireless communication system. An MBMS multi-cell coordination unit is provided to coordinate a plurality of evolved Node-Bs (eNodeBs) for transmisstion of MBMS data synchronously in multiple cells of the same single frequencty network (SFN). The MBMS multi-cell coorditaion unit may be located in an access gateway or in an eNodeB. An MBMS multi-cell scheduling scheme may be preconfigured for the eNodeBs for synchronization. Alternatively, the eNodeBs may be synchronized dynamically.
