    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair cosmetic which imparts luster and body to the hair, assures smooth combing, and gives luster and wiriness, particularly when used on the hair run dry due to damage. SOLUTION: This hair cosmetic contains lactic acid or a salt thereof with a higher content ratio of L-lactic acid than that of D-lactic acid. More particularly, the content ratio of L-lactic acid based on the total amount of the lactic acid is preferably between 60 and 100%. Additionally, the content of the lactic acid based on the total weight of the composition is preferably >=0.005wt.%, a particularly >=0.05wt.%. In case the hair cosmetic is to be rinsed off, the effect of high content ratio of L-lactic acid is further improved by using an anionic surfactant, ampholytic surface or nonionic surfactant as the cleansing agent for the hair surface. Furthermore, a conditioning agent may be added to the system.
