Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optically active epoxide useful for a synthetic intermediate for medicines, agrochemicals, etc., ferroelectric liquid crystal, etc., by reacting an olefin compound with oxygen in the presence of both an optically active metal compound such as a new Mn (III) complex, etc., and an aldehyde compound. CONSTITUTION:An olefin compound (e.g. 1,2-dihydronaphthalene) is reacted with oxygen in the presence of both an optically active metal compound composed of a new manganese (II) compound of the formula (R and R are H, alkyl or aryl; R to R are H, alkyl, aryl, acyl or alkoxycarbonyl; X is anion) and an aldehyde compound (e.g. pivalic aldehyde) at room temperature in an oxygen atmosphere under stirring to give the objective optically active epoxide [(1R,2S)-epoxy-3,4-dihydronaphthalene, etc.] useful for a synthetic intermediate for physiologically active compounds such as medicines, agr'ichemicals, etc., a functional material such as ferroelectric liquid crystal, etc., and a synthetic intermediate for fine chemicals.

CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula V is produced by compounding (A) 1mol of a compound of formula I [R and R are aryl substituted with electron-donative group, aliphatic unsatrated hydrocarbon group, group of formula II [R and R are (substituted) alkyl or aryl{ or formula III (R to R are same as R and R ); R and R may together form a ring} with (B) 0.1-5mol% of a compound of formula IV [R , R , R and R are lower alkyl, aryl, COOR (R is alkyl or aryl), etc,; R and R are H, halogen, etc., which may have substituent; R and R or R and R may together form a ring] and (C) 1.0-3.0mol of a compound of formula R CHO [R is (substituted) alkyl or aryl] and reacting the compoents in 0.03-5mol% of a solvent such as benzene while supplying the system with a gas containing oxygen at a partial pressure of preferably 1.0-2.0atm.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for drugs, agricultural chemicals and natural substance under a mild condition by reacting an enolate with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a specific nickel compound and an aldehyde compound. CONSTITUTION:An enolate shown by formula IV (R and R are H, alkyl or aryl; R is alkyl, alicyclic hydrocarbon group, aryl or alkoxy; R to R are alkyl or aryl) is reacted with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a compound shown by formula I or formula II (R , R , R and R are alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, etc.; R and R are H, halogen, alkyl, etc.) and a compound shown by formula III (R is alkyl or aryl) preferably at 20-50 deg.C to give a compound shown by formula V or formula VI. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a silylating agent to improve the yield. The compound is further treated in the presence of a fluoride ion to give the compound shown by formula VI.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily obtain the title compound in high yield through a novel reaction by reaction between an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid amide and a carbonyl compound using specific cobalt complex(s) and a hydrogenated dialkylaluminum. CONSTITUTION:A reaction is made between (A) an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid amide of formula I [R -R are each H or (substituted) monovalent hydrocarbon group, or may form a ring through mutual binding] and (B) a carbonyl compound of formula II (R and R are each the same as one of R -R , or may form a ring through mutual binding) in the presence of (C) at least one cobalt complex selected from compounds of formula III (R and R are each the same as one of R -R ) and (D) a hydrogenated dialkylaluminum, thus obtaining the objective compound of formula IV useful for e.g. producing intermediates for the syntheses of medicines and pesticides, etc. One of the cobalt complexes of the formula III can be produced by desalting process from a diketone and CoCl2 as raw materials.

A hydroxyl- containing compound having functional group can be produced from an alpha-olefin having functional group by the use of said cobalt complex. PREPARATION:The objective compound of formula I can be produced by using a diketone compound having C number smaller than that of the objective beta- diketone compound by 4 and acetylating both molecular terminals of the diketone compound with an alkyl trifluoroacetate.

EXAMPLE:Bis(2-ethoxycarbonyl-1-phenyl-1,3-butanedionato)cobalt(II). USE:Useful as a catalyst for synthesizing hydroxyl group-containing compounds from olefinic compounds and capable of providing the hydroxyl group-containing compounds at a high conversion rate by bringing the olefinic hydrocarbon compounds into contact with an oxygen-containing gas in the coexistence of the compound expressed by formula I and a secondary alcohol. PREPARATION:For example, as shown in the reaction formulas, sodium hydroxide is dripped into a solution of a dicarbonyl compound corresponding to a ligand of an objective complex dispersed therein and a cobalt compound is then added thereto afford the compound expressed by formula I.

USE:A catalyst for converting olefinic hydrocarbon compounds into carbonyl group- and/or hydroxyl group-containing compounds at a high conversion rate without decomposition functional groups even if the raw material compounds have the functional groups. PREPARATION:An aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide is dripped into a solution of the corresponding dicarbonyl compound in an alcohol while stirring and a cobalt compound is then added to the above-mentioned solution to afford the compound expressed by formula I.

CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R -R are alkyl, aryl or arylalkyl or R is cycloalkyl and R -R are H; R -R may have substituents) is made to react in the presence of a secondary alcohol and a catalyst expressed by formula II (R , R , R and R are H, 1-10C alkyl, aryl having substituent such as lower alkyl, lower alkoxymethyl, CF3, etc.; R and R are H, lower alkyl, halogen, etc.; excluding the case that R =R =R =R =CF3 and R =R =H) while removing gas generated by the reaction. The objective compound of formula III (one of R and R is OH and the other is H) can be produced from the above raw material in high conversion while suppressing the deterioration of the catalyst.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain alcohols in high conversion ratio and selectivity by reacting olefins with an oxygen-containing gas in the pressence of a cobalt complex catalyst and secondary alcohol. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by formula I (R is alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or arylalkyl; R to R are H, alkyl, aryl or arylalkyl) is reacted with an oxygen- containing gas in the presence of a Co complex catalyst, such as a catalyst expressed by formula II or III, and a secondary alcohol (e.g., isopropyl alcohol) at 60-130 deg.C under 0.2-10kg/cm pressure of oxygen to afford a compound expressed by formulas IV and/or V. During the reaction, stirring, bubbling, etc., are preferably carried out so as to provide sufficient contact of the oxygen- containing gas with the liquid phase. A hydrocarbon compound having OH and CO groups can be obtained by changing the reaction conditions or separating the reaction product.
