Provided is an information processing system including a recognizing unit configured to recognize a given target on the basis of signals detected by a plurality of sensors arranged around a specific user, an identifying unit configured to identify the given target recognized by the recognizing unit, an estimating unit configured to estimate a position of the specific user in accordance with the a signal detected by any one of the plurality of sensors, and a signal processing unit configured to process signals acquired from sensors around the given target identified by the identifying unit in a manner that, when output from a plurality of actuators arranged around the specific user, the signals are localized near the position of the specific user estimated by the estimating unit.

A data communication apparatus capable of creating a new type of communication is provided. Motion information obtaining means 33 obtains information on the motion of an arbitrary apparatus. An other-party apparatus motion determination section 21 makes a determination as to the motion of the arbitrary apparatus on the basis of the information on the motion of the arbitrary apparatus, the information being obtained by the motion information obtaining means 33. A communication determination section 22 determines whether or not communication is to be performed with an arbitrary apparatus on the basis of the motion determination output by the other-party apparatus motion determination section 21. When it is determined by the communication determination section 22 that communication is to be performed, predetermined data communication is started with the arbitrary apparatus.

Content is selected on the basis of changes of a walking tempo. The walking tempo is detected (S5). In a state determination process (S7), it is determined whether the walking tempo tends to increase, be constant, or decrease. A walking tempo corrective coefficient is calculated on the basis of the determined result and a corrective walking tempo is calculated with the walking tempo corrective coefficient (S9). It is determined whether or not music is changed on the basis of the corrective walking tempo rather than the actually detected walking tempo (S11). When music is changed, relevant music content is searched. Controls are performed in such a manner that when the walking tempo is decreasing, the foregoing state is kept for a while, when the walking tempo is increasing, music is quickly selected according to the increase of the walking tempo, and when the walking tempo is stable, music is not selected.

In a case where the detection unit has detected the interaction event, the attribute management unit changes the attribute value of the first character in accordance with the rule set by the setting unit.
