Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition improved in heat stability, oil resistance, hydrolysis resistance, base resistance and mechanical properties by mixing a polyoxymethylene with a hindered phenol, a specified metal salt and a saponified PVA polymer. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. polyoxymethylene (a) is mixed with 0.001-5 pts.wt. hindered phenol (b) of an MW >=300, which is a compound of a phenolic structure having a 1-6 C alkyl group on one side of the OH group, 0.001-5 pts.wt. at least one metal salt (c) selected from among a hydroxide of an alkali (alkaline earth) metal and an alkali (alkaline earth) metal salt of a carboxylic acid [e.g. Ca(OH)2] and 0.001-5 pts.wt. at least one saponified PVA polymer (d) (e.g. ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer) selected from among fully and partially saponified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers and fully and partially saponified PVAs.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To easily remove drag-in moisture of material, condensation water and volatile component, and reduce drying load of the material so as to improve productivity by providing a vent at a material feed hopper and connecting it to a feed barrel. CONSTITUTION: In an extruder 10 for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin or a thermoplastic resin composition, a screw 7 penetrates a cylinder constituted by connecting a plurality of cylindrical barrels 11, the screw 7 is rotated by a motor 12 connected to its one end so as to extrude the contents by kneading them from the right to the left. To a feed barrel 8 near the motor 12, a material feed hopper 1 is connected together with a vent 2 through a junction 3. Thus, as the vent 2 is provided at the material feed hopper 1 to be connected to the feed barrel 8, a volatile substance to be generated abruptly can be properly removed through the vent 2, so that drying load of the material is reduced and productivity is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject copolymer having high strength, heat-resistance and polymerization degree in an extremely short time in high yield by mixing and reacting a cyclic ether with a part of a polymerization catalyst such as BF3, adding the remaining part of the polymerization catalyst and trioxane to the reaction product and carrying out bulk-polymerization. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer is produced by the bulk-polymerization of trioxane and a cyclic ether in the presence of a polymerization catalyst such as boron trifluoride (BF3), hydrated BF3 and a coordination compound of BF3 and an organic compound containing oxygen atom or sulfur atom. The polymerization is carried out by preliminarily mixing the cyclic ether supplied from a pipe 2 with a part of the polymerization catalyst supplied from a pipe 1 before charging to a polymerizer 5, reacting the components within 0.1-10 min, reacting the reaction product with trioxane supplied from a pipe 3 in the polymerizer 5 in the presence of the polymerization catalyst separately supplied from a pipe 1' and extruding the produced polymer from the outlet 6 of the polymerizer 5 with a screw 10.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject copolymer excellent in high cycling and mechanical properties without using a nucleating agent by carrying out bulk polymerization of a raw material composed of trioxane, a cyclic ether compound, etc., in a specific polymerization reactor and then treating the resultant crude product according to a specified method. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer obtained by initially copolymerizing (A) trioxane with (B) a cyclic ether compound selected from ethylene oxide, 1,3-dioxolane, 1,3-dioxepane, 1,3,5-trioxepane and 1,3,6-trioxocane and (C) a compound selected from glycidyl phenyl ether, styrene oxide and glycidyl naphthyl ether in the presence of a boron trifluoride-based catalyst using a self-cleaning type two-axle mixer having plural platy paddles as a polymerization reactor according to a bulk polymerization method and then melting the resultant crude oxymethylene copolymer in a stabilization treating machine composed of a twin-screw extruder having plural vent ports while heating, further decomposing and removing unstable terminal parts.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To shorten reaction time and obtain the subject polyester useful as automotive parts, etc., in a simplified apparatus and operation with high efficiency by continuously carrying out addition polymerization of a crystalline aromatic polyester and lactone compound in a single screw extruder. CONSTITUTION:A crystalline aromatic polyester (e.g. polybutylene terephthalate) and a lactone compound (e.g. epsilon-caprolactone) are fed to a single screw extruder and subjected to continuous addition polymerization to afford the objective polyester. Further, the unreacted lactone compound is preferably removed from the resultant polyester. Furthermore, e.g. 215 to 250 deg.C temperature and 3 to 20min residence time in the extruder are preferably used as conditions of the abovementioned addition polymerization.

The copolymer and optionally an antioxidant comprising a hindered phenol compound, a terminal decomposition aid comprising an alkali substance, an acid binder which absorbs formaldehyde are fed to a twin-screw extruder having a plurality of vents and treated at 210-260 deg.C for an average dwell time of 1-10min while deaerating from the vents under a reduced pressure of 0.1-20Torr.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the title polymer having a high degree of polymerization in a reactor with a single stage by combining a stream of a specified catalyst with a stream of a cyclic ether to activate the catalyst, then supplying the combined stream into a reactor so as to bring it into contact with trioxane, thereby carrying out the bulk polymerization, and adding a terminator in the latter half of the reactor. CONSTITUTION:A polymerization catalyst selected from the group consisting of boron trifluoride, boron trifluoride hydrate and coordination compounds of boron trifluoride with an organic compound containing an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom is supplied from a catalyst feed pipe 3, and the catalyst stream is combined with a cyclic ether stream which is supplied from a cyclic ether feed pipe 2 before the entrance of a feed port 4 to activate the catalyst. The liquid mixture of the activated catalyst and the cyclic ether together with trioxane from the trioxane feed pipe 1 is introduced into a polymerizer 5 wherein the polymerization is effected. In the latter half of the polymerizer, a terminator is supplied from a terminator feed pipe 11 thereby stopping the polymerization, and the polymer with the deactivated catalyst is discharged from a discharge port 6. According to the process, since the bulk polymerization and the deactivation of the catalyst can be effected in a reactor in a single stage, the productivity can be improved.
