Abstract: PURPOSE: A dual mode muffler of an automobile is provided to satisfy conditions of reduction of noise and back pressure, and to be usefully used in an exhaust system of next generation. CONSTITUTION: A muffler has a valve unit(30) installed in a discharge tube(13), and having opening degree controlled depending on engine RPM and quantity of discharged combustion gas. The valve unit comprises a first rotary triangular flap(310) and a second rotary triangular flap(330) installed by a first hinge shaft(311) and a second hinge shaft(331) fixed to an inside of the discharge tube to be separated from each other, and a first torsion spring and a second torsion spring installed to cover the first hinge shaft and the second hinge shaft in such a manner that the first rotary triangular flap and the second rotary triangular flap are elastically rotated and a linear movement triangular flap(350) installed by a guide shaft(351) fixed to the discharge tube to form a triangle together with the first hinge shaft and the second hinge shaft, and a compression spring(353) connected with the guide shaft in such a manner that the linear movement triangular flap is elastically and linearly moved in longitudinal direction of the discharge tube. The linear movement triangular flap is installed so that one of corners thereof is inserted to a space between the first rotary triangular flap and the second rotary triangular flap and both side thereof contact with the first rotary triangular flap and the second rotary triangular flap.

Abstract: PURPOSE: Structure of an exhaust pipe is provided to reduce the booming sound and noise of the exhaust gas by actively controlling the exhaust pressure of the exhaust gas, to control the flow characteristic of the exhaust gas at the entire operation range of an engine, and to improve productivity and durability by compacting structure. CONSTITUTION: A capacity variable space(3) is formed in a variable unit(2) formed on an exhaust pipe(1). A guide groove(10) formed on the bottom face of the exhaust pipe facing the variable unit and guiding the movement of an operating plate(6) is formed in a housing(4). A slider(8) is movably installed in the housing. A spring(9) elastically supports the slider. The operating plate having plural holes(7) are formed vertically on the slider. Depending on the change of the pressure of the exhaust gas discharged from an engine, the operating plate moves promptly to vary the volume of the exhaust gas.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for removing the condensate water of a muffler is provided to exclude a separate apparatus for draining the condensate water and to avoid the collection of the condensate water in a muffler by completely discharging the condensate water with the flow force of the exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: In a muffler(20), respective ends of a front exhaust pipe(23) and a rear exhaust pipe(24) are received in an inlet(21) and an outlet(22). One end of a pressurizing pipe(25) is received in the front exhaust pipe received in the muffler, while the other end is placed on the bottom surface in front of the muffler. The upper and lower portions of the pressurizing pipe are bent in different directions to induce a portion of the exhaust gas flowing into the muffler to the bottom surface of the muffler. A pivot valve(26) formed on the bottom end portion of the pressurizing pipe is opened by the pressure of the exhaust gas. One end of a discharge pipe(27) is received in the rear exhaust pipe, while the other end is placed on the rear bottom surface of the muffler. The condensate water collecting on the bottom surface behind the muffler is drained to the rear exhaust pipe.

CONSTITUTION: An exhaust system of a vehicle is composed of an exhaust pipe(20) connected to an exhaust manifold to discharge exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold; a muffler(30) connected to the exhaust pipe to discharge exhaust gas by lowering temperature and pressure of exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe and restrict sudden expansion and explosive; and an ion wind generating unit installed at the side of the exhaust pipe to generate ion wind. Back pressure and noise are reduced with optimizing high back pressure from the exhaust system. The quality and the performance of the engine are improved with reducing noise from vortex.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable valve mounted on a pipe to be opened or closed in accordance to pressure of discharged gas. The variable valve includes a closing plate mounted inside the pipe and having an opening hole perforated to block the flow of the discharged gas; a spring manufactured with elastic material and coupled to the closing plate; and a gate mounted to block the opening hole by elasticity of the spring, wherein the spring has two leg portions coupled to the closing plate from each end and a connection portion connecting the leg portions and coming in close contact with the gate, and the leg portions are twisted in the connection portion in different directions.
