Abstract: 본 발명은 조향 칼럼의 팝업 방지장치에 관한 것으로, 제1회동축을 매개로 회동가능하게 장착되면서 틸트조작레버에 의해 회동되게 틸트조작레버와 연결된 지지브라켓과, 제2회동축을 매개로 조향 칼럼에 회동가능하게 장착되면서 다수개의 치형이 형성된 상면과 곡면을 이루는 하단면을 구비한 틸트브라켓, 이 틸트브라켓의 상기 치형과 치합되는 치형을 구비한 고정브라켓 및, 상기 틸트조작레버에 의해 조작된 지지브라켓을 원래의 위치로 복귀시키도록 상기 지지브라켓에 장착된 복귀스프링을 구비하여, 차량의 충돌 사고로 인해 운전자의 상체가 조향휠에 부딪치면서 그 충격이 조향 칼럼에 가해질 때에 보다 강한 틸트 고정력으로 조향 칼럼을 지지하여 조향 칼럼의 팝업 현상을 방지함과 더불어 조향 칼럼의 완충장치가 원활하게 작동되도록 하여 운전자의 상해를 경감시켜 줄 수 있도록 된 것이다.

Abstract: PURPOSE: Impact-absorbing structure of a steering column for a vehicle is provided to secure stability of impact by optimally tuning an impact energy-absorbing region of the steering column according to the kind and the impact characteristic of the vehicle, without changing the design of the steering column. CONSTITUTION: In impact-absorbing structure of a steering column for a vehicle, an impact energy-absorbing unit comprises stopping units(3) contacted and fixed between a lower column(1) inserted into an upper column(2) and the upper column. The impact energy-absorbing unit prevents driver's physical injury by absorbing impact transmitted to the steering column installed to the body of the vehicle through mounting upper and lower brackets, while covering a steering shaft(S) connected to a steering wheel.
