    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer which dose not fade even when exposed to sunlight by dispersing fine particles of a noble metal in good efficiency in a high-molecular polymer, by dissolving a soluble salt of a noble metal in a liquid monomer, polymerizing the solution to form a solid and heat-treating this solid. CONSTITUTION:A soluble salt of a noble metal [e.g., chloroauric acid or sodium tetrachloropalladite] is dissolved in a liquid monomer (e.g., methyl methacrylate, styrene or isoprene), and the solution is polymerized to form a solid. This solid is heat-treated at a temperature higher than the temperature at which colloids of this noble metal can be formed. In this way, it is possible to disperse fine particles of a noble metal in good efficiency in a high-molecular polymer, so that a colored high-molecular polymer which is transparent, possesses a clear color tone such as red, yellow or brown, and does not fade even when exposed to sunlight for a long time outdoors can be obtained. This polymer can be suitably used for, e.g., decorative organic glass sheets, optical filters, and light- screening materials in the fields of buildings, optical devices and instruments, electrical appliances, sundries, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To safely and economically detect the protein immobilized on a membrane with high sensitivity, by adsorbing palladium colloid by protein and applying the electroless plating of a base metal to said protein to sensitize the same. CONSTITUTION:In detecting the protein immobilized on a membrane, this membrane is treated with palladium colloid stabilized with a nonionic surfactant. As the membrane used in the immobilization of protein to be detected, any one commonly used in a gold colloid method is used. As a method for immobilizing protein to be inspected on the membrane, for example, an electroblotting method is used. Subsequently, the electroless plating of a base metal is further applied to the membrane thus treated to sensitize the protein. This electroless plating is a catalytic chemical plating utilizing the catalytic activity of palladium and a metal is selectively precipitated on a metal surface having catalytic action. By applying immersion treatment to the treated membrane in an electroless plating liquid, the base metal is precipitated on palladium colloidal particles from said plating liquid and, therefore, protein can be detected with high sensitivity.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently produce the title catalyst having high activity with good reproducibility by bringing a noble metal hydrosol into contact with an anion-exchange resin having a quaternary ammonium group to deposit the noble metal colloidal particles on the resin surface. CONSTITUTION:The noble metal hydrosol is brought into contact with the anion-exchange resin having a quaternary ammonium group to deposit the noble metal colloidal particles on the resin surface, and the deposition type noble metal catalyst is produced. As a result, the solid catalyst carrying fine noble metal colloidal particles can be easily and efficiently produced. The obtained solid catalyst has a large catalytic surface area and can be widely used in the catalytic reactions ranging from the liq. phase reaction to the gas phase reaction, the recovery is also easy, and the reproducibility of the catalytic activity is excellent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a metallic film having superior adhesion on a molded body of polyvinylidene chloride by chemical plating by etching the surface of the molded body, treating it with palladium hyudrosol contg. a cationic surfactant and carrying out chemical plating. CONSTITUTION:A molded body of polyvinylidene chloride is immersed in an aqueous soln. of an alkali metallic hydroxide such as NaOH to etch the surface of the molded body. The molded body is then immersed in palladium hydrosol contg. a cationic surfactant such as a quat. ammonium salt type surfactant to stick palladium colloid to the surface of the molded body and the molded body is chemically plated with a metal such as Ni, Co, Cu or Ag. By this method, a metallic film having superior adhesion can be formed on the surface of the molded body by chemical plating with high reproducibility.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a well practically usable light emission quantity measuring material in which discoloring proceeds with the increase of a light irradiation quantity by composing a light irradiation quantity measuring material of a precious metal organosol containing a positive ionic surface active agent having a halide ion. CONSTITUTION:The light irradiation quantity measuring material consists of a precious metal organosol, and this organosol must contain a positive ionic surface active agent containing a halide ion. The precious metal organosol is not particulary limited, however, a gold organosol, a silver organosol, or a palladium organosol is preferably used, and also the positive ionic surface active agent is not particulary, however, a quaternary ammonium salt type containing halide ion is preferably used. Such a precious metal organosol has its own color, gradually discolors when it is irradiated with various lights and becomes colorless in many cases. Therefore, when this organosol is exposed to the light to be measured and the advancing degree with the elapse of time of such discoloring is obtained, the irradiation quantity with light is measured.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer-metal cluster composite material consisting of metallic fine particles uniformly dispersed in a polymer matrix by dissolving a metal complex in a monomer, polymerizing and solidifying the monomer to form a polymer-metal complex composite material and heat-treating the material under optimum condition. CONSTITUTION:This polymer-metal cluster composite material having high elastic modulus and composed of a thermoplastic or thermosetting polymer matrix and metal particles having particle diameter of 10-20Angstrom and uniformly dispersed in the matrix is produced by dissolving a metal complex (e.g. palladium acetylacetonate) in a monomer (e.g. methyl methacrylate), adding a polymerization initiator (e.g. benzoyl peroxide) to the solution, heating at 70 deg.C for about 35min, pouring into a glass mold, heating at 45 deg.C for 24hr to effect the polymerization and solidification of the solution and obtain a yellow transparent polymer- metal complex composite material and finally heat-treating the material under the optimum conditions comprising the heating rate of 1 deg.C/min, the final temperature of 140 deg.C and the heat-treating period of 2.5hr.
