    Abstract: Aq. polymer dispersions (PD) contain (A) a copolymer of (a) 0.5-5 wt.% 3-8C mono-unsatd. carboxylic acid, anhydride and/or amide, (c) 95-99.5 wt.% 1-18C alkyl ester(s) of 3-6C alpha,beta-unsatd. acid(s) and/or vinylaromatic monomer(s) and (c) 0-4 wt.% other comonomers, (B) 0.1-7 wt.% (w.r.t. A) aromatic ketone(s) of formula R-CO-R1 (I), and (C) 0.1-7 wt.% (w.r.t. A) aromatic ketone(s) of formula (II), (III), (IV) or 2,4,6-trimethylbenzophenone; the total amt. of (B+C) = 0.1-7 wt.% w.r.t. (A); R is linear 1-4C alkyl, branched opt. substd. 3-4C alkyl, 6-20C aryl or the gp. R1; R1 of a gp. of formula (V). USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for the prodn. of paint and coating systems (claimed). Also claimed are paint and coating prepns. contg. PD, and concrete roof tiles coated with PD. The invention provides aq. polymer dispersions contg. a mixt. of hydrophilic and hydrophobic photo-initiators, which enable the prodn. of coating systems with increased UV sensitivity, even after exposure to rain, and a low tendency to soiling, esp. soiling caused by efflorescence of mineral substrates.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the production of mouldings based on a particulate material as additive and an aqueous binding agent containing an acrylate polymer, the additive being moistened with the binding agent, converted into the desired shape and subsequently dried, characterised in that a binding agent is employed whose binder is an acrylate polymer whose glass transition range is relatively high and which is built up from (A) predominantly methyl methacrylate, (B) a minor amount of (meth)acrylic acid, (C) if desired, a minor amount of an alkyl ester of acrylic acid and (D) if desired, a small amount of other specific polymerisable compounds.
