Abstract: Preparation of at least one organic compound (I) with at least 3 C atoms or at least two C and at least one N by fermentation. Preparation of at least one organic compound (I) with at least 3 C atoms or at least two C and at least one N by fermentation comprises: (a) millling a starch source (S) to form a milled product (MP) that contains at least part of the non-starch-containing solid components (X) of (S); (b) suspending (MP) in an aqueous liquid and hydrolysis of the starch components by enzymatic liquefaction and optionally subsequent saccharification, to form a first liquid medium (1), containing mono- or oligo-saccharides; and (c) adding (1), together with metabolizable mono-, di- and/or oligo-saccharides (Y), or compositions containing at least 50wt.% (Y) essentially free of water-insoluble solids, to a fermentation medium that contains microorganisms (MO) which can overproduce (I), under fermentation conditions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of at least one nonvolatile microbial metabolite in solid form by sugar-based microbial fermentation, in which process a microorganism strain which produces the desired metabolites is grown using a sugar-containing liquid medium with a monosaccharide content of more than 20% by weight based on the total weight of the liquid medium, and the volatile constituents of the fermentation liquor are subsequently largely removed, the sugar-containing liquid medium being prepared by: a1) milling selected starch feedstock from cereal grains; and a2) liquefying the millbase in an aqueous liquid in the presence of at least one starch-liquefying enzyme, followed by saccharification using at least one saccharifying enzyme, where, for liquefaction purposes, at least a portion of the millbase is liquefied by continuous or batchwise addition to the aqueous liquid. Furthermore, the invention relates to a solid formulation, of a nonvolatile microbial metabolite, obtainable by the method according to the invention; and to the use of such a solid formulation as additive or supplement for human or animal nutrition or for the treatment of textiles, leather, cellulose, paper or surfaces.

Method for preparing at least one organic compound (I) with at least 3 C atoms or at least two C and at least one N by fermentation comprises: (a) milling a starch source (S) to form a milled product (MP) that includes at least part of the non-starch containing solid components (X) of (S); (b) suspending (MP) in aqueous liquid to form a suspension of at least 45 wt.% dry matter content; (c) hydrolysis of the starch components of MP by liquefaction and optionally subsequent saccharification; to produce an aqueous medium (M) that contains the hydrolyzed starch components and at least some of (X); and (d) using (M) in a fermentation for culturing a microorganism (MO) capable of overproducing (I). In step (c), the suspension from step (b) is heated to above the gelatinization temperature of the starch component in MP by introduction of steam.

Abstract: Un procedimiento de preparación en contínuo de succinatos de di-alquilo C1-3 por reacción del ácido succínico con un alcanol C1-3 en presencia de un catalizador de esterificación ácida heterogéneo de lecho fijo en un reactor tubular a una temperatura en el intervalo desde 60 a 100ºC, en el que se forma una mezcla, que comprende ácido succínico, alcanol C1-3, succinato de mono-alquilo C1-3, succinato de di-alquilo C1-3 y agua, en una etapa de mezclado y se alimenta a la entrada del reactor tubular, y en el que 5 a 75% del caudal de salida del reactor tubular se recicla directamente a la etapa de mezclado como corriente de reciclaje y estando la proporción molar de alcanol C1-3 respecto al ácido succínico adicionado a la zona de mezcla, y sin incluir el alcanol C1-3 y el ácido succínico de la corriente de reciclaje, en el intervalo desde 2,0 a 9,5.
